Vincent-Young Bid Accepted Report
Thursday, 15th Aug 2019 10:08

Town are reported to have had a bid for one-time trialist Kane Vincent-Young accepted by Colchester United.

The 23-year-old right-back, who also operates on the opposite flank, was believed to have been the subject of a Blues approach earlier in the week and we understand discussions have continued over the last few days. Now, Sky Sports are reporting that the League Two U’s have accepted an offer.

Vincent-Young spent time on trial with Town during pre-season ahead of 2018/19 but wasn't offered a deal and ended up signing a new two-year contract at Colchester.

Last week the one-time Tottenham academy youngster, who also had a spell with Banbury early in his career, was linked with moves to Championship sides Luton and Charlton but their transfer deadline passed with Vincent-Young still at the JobServe Community Stadium. Leagues One and Two are still open for transfer business until September 2nd.

However, Town may not be the only contenders for the Camden-born defender’s signature with Sky claiming that Sunderland could also join the chase.

So we're signing a player from a club in a lower division that they don't necessarily want!?! Super, Wonderful, Smashing, Great!!! Evans has really pushed his wallet out hasn't he!? Not. #EvansOut

Got a feeling we could dither and lose this one all because Colchester want 5o pence more. What ive seen of him he looks half decent i think Emmanuel lost his chance now makes too many mistakes looks clumsy and naive could go in the opposite direction. Anyone got 50pence.

mrmorisato where does it say Colchester don't want him? He's got to be better than Emmanuel so I'm all for it.

Luton didn't even match his value so well done Evans for getting the funds out, just get another striker and we have a very nifty squad!

Mrmorisato 78 apoearances in previous 2 seasons hardly speaks of a player that Col U "don't necessarily want"!

We should be very, very happy if this gets finalised. Great player, good experience and still only 23

We could always try making a double signing by bringing back Nouble. Perhaps an unpopular opinion but, despite his poor scoring record for us, I actually thought he looked a handful!

Why are they selling him if they want him? Can only think we must be paying real big bucks!! 😂

For once our location could be to our benefits should Sunderland come knocking too

Bluearmy81 Because they have a high valuation on him and we've matched him, exactly why every club sells players. Anything for a moan with you.

Hopefully we'll pull this off. Shame some wanted us to spend cash and are still unhappy🙄

Is there a "report this comment for being written by a moron" button?

He has looked a decent player when I have seen him and has a lot of games under his belt for a young player, which Lambert keeps stressing is important. Does highlight again how disastrous Hurst's spell in charge was though. Could have had him for nothing and we are now going to have to pay a fee — Hurst decided to pay £700,000 instead for Donacien who presumably will now be his deputy. Not as bad as under-selling Webster by £17 million though I suppose.

Talking to a ColU fan yesterday, he was not at all happy about this. Good!

Got to welcome this. Apparently plays on either side and can be pushed forward on the right. Young and plenty of games played. Presumably not costing the earth otherwise ME wouldn't be interested.

Sad for Emmanuel, but enough managers have had a look at him now and decided he isn't quite there. Get this done now!

top talent in the lower leagues. Lack of self confidence and getting them to believe in themselves is a must have coaches role

A right back with a bit of pace sounds good. Added to a young Dobra taking on defenders down the flanks and it could be an exciting season.

Until I read from Stuart Watson or Andy Warren this story is only speculation

For the record I believe if we had signed him last season when he was out of contract we would have had to pay compensation because of his age, so he would not have been free
