Returning striker Will Keane says he’s delighted to be back at Portman Road having signed a one-year deal with an option for a further season.

“I spoke to quite a few clubs and there was interest there but I knew if I could sort a deal here this is the best place for me,” he told iFollow Ipswich.

“My time here last season was the biggest factor in me signing to be honest. Having been here and seeing the size of the club; having the chance to work with the manager as well.

“I have kept my eye on the results and saw 24,000 here for the Sunderland game and I thought ‘what a massive club’ and I was desperate to come back and be part of that.”

Keane ended last season with a hamstring injury which ultimately required surgery but he’s now over the three-month rehab, although he expects to need to play a couple of U23s matches before he is ready for the first team.

“The big thing for me is staying fit but I’m confident if I can do that I can be a big success here and help the team back to the Championship," he added.

“At the end of last season a lot of fans said to me ‘We hope to see you back here’ and I’m delighted I am back.

“I want to help get that winning feeling back. If we can get that momentum building it can spring us back into the Championship and hopefully we take off from there.”

Bluefox added 16:13 - Aug 20 We clearly need another strike who can score goals if we are to have a decent change of promotion. The big question is can Keane stay fit. If he can, I would be fairly confident of him scoring a decent haul of goals. I reckon he will also be a much better partner for Norwood than the non-scoring Jackson. A much cleverer player so should be able to create the opportunities for Norwood than Jackson doesn't.

I'd hope Town have a pay as you play contract, otherwise we could (I hope not) be lumbered with another player who we get barely a handful of games out of. However, a fit Will Keane, & I mean a match fit with a number of games under his belt Will Keane, is not just quality at this level, but would be a major asset for a side at the top end of the Championship. We're taking a gamble only for a year, with an option if it goes well, fair enough. Now it's down to Will, our medical team & the training regime to make sure he is given to best chance to success here & help fire us to promotion.

I would play Keane and Norwood both players are good in the air and would be a handful this would give us more attacking options Jackson for me is a very good impact player . If Keane and Norwood can stay fit i think we will get promoted .
