Wright Wrong - Wenger
Wright Wrong - Wenger

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says that former Town keeper Richard Wright made the wrong move when he left Highbury for Everton last week. The Frenchman was keen to keep the Ipswich-born keeper but Wright felt he needed to move to get first-team football.

The Arsenal manager said: "Last year we had three goalkeepers who all played at least ten games, so it was a big blow when Richard left.

"He wanted to play first-team football - which we understand - but I did not want to let him go. In my opinion David Seaman is still the number one but he is at the age where he must stop playing soon.

"If I was a young player I would think that I would get a chance to play."
