Jackson: We'll Work Well as a Pair
Wednesday, 21st Aug 2019 15:26

Striker Kayden Jackson says he and fellow frontman James Norwood are developing an understanding, the pair having netted the goals as the Blues came from behind to beat AFC Wimbledon 2-1 at Portman Road last night.

The duo started the first three League One games as a front two before Jackson came off the bench last night to claim his first goal of the season in injury time, Norwood having grabbed his second of the campaign on 81.

"The more you play with someone, the better that relationship becomes," Jackson told iFollow Ipswich.

"We linked up a few times against Wimbledon in the second half and I think going forward we'll get stronger.

"I've seen Nors and what he does. I've been able to take some advice from him on central positions because that's where strikers get their goals.

"I think we'll work well as a pair but the most important thing is that we're helping the team earn three points. Whether it's Nors, me or anyone scoring, our main aim is to move up the table.”

Hopefully the tide has now turned for late goals now

Only if we don't play one up front again. Surely the lesson has been learnt by now. Two up front is a must.

Thing is maybe people forget we scored a fair few late winners under Mick. Bolton, Leeds and QPR at home spring to mind, away even in the last season there was Burton & particularly the 4-3 win at Millwall was brilliant! Problem is we didn't half concede many many more in injury time to lose points which somewhat obscures the memory. Let's hope this season they're firmly staying in the 'for' rather than 'against' column!

Any team with aspirations of winning a title and/or promotion has to have 4 good strikers, who have have different strengths & can work well in a partnership with the others. When all are fit, and I recognise that with our recent injuries record they may never all be fit at the same time, we now have 4 serious strikers, all of whom are among the very best in this league. I guess both Norwood & Jackson have to prove themselves yet at Division 1 level, but I'm encouraged enough by what I've seen from them so far this season, to know that they can give all rival defences a torrid time. When Sears & Keane are up & at it, we can mix it up & pose a completely different threat when needed. Keep them fit & we are in a very strong position.

That second clip is a joy to watch. Over and over. Amazing to hear the roar as the goal goes in.

Jackson is playing well, won a pen, goal, his pace will kill defenders in this league and will do his confidence good for him to attack the championship next seadon. Coyb...and yes great clip 🐬👍

4312 looks like way forward, judge behind these two, 3 cm, that allows two very attacking full backs...3 would probably be skuse, downes and nolan when all fit...

We have a strong squad now. They just need to perform week after week, play in a good system, and not get injured.

I like the bit in the second video where Holy and Judge touch hands. It's like a dad with his little boy.

Lambert needs to stick with the same team for s tin of games and not change 2-3bokayers every game. It's not allowing partnerships to form. But I get why he's going it . Given out current injury list ( 10 players injured ), and he's worried we'll get more injuries.

One up front in this league really doesn't look like the right thing to do at all.

Judge looks like the least encouraged soul in the stadium, I loved his enthusiasm last season but he seems unphased by us scoring a winner. Pathetic.

I was a critic of Kayden last season. Not for want of effort but for the simple fact hes a forward and doesnt score anywhere near enough goals. But this season there seems to be a bit more hunger, more determination. He took his chance brilliantly and I really hope this spurs him on. Go on Kayden, keep creating chances, having shots, SCORING GOALS and show us all what you can do!

Jackson was brilliant when he came on. I think we'll see him mainly used as an impact sub when Will Keane is fit. Defenders in this league just haven't got the pace to cope with him, especially with tired legs in the second half.

Yes agree BlueBlood90 Jackson's a bit one dimensional i think with Keane and Norwood up front you'll have two players who are both good in the air and ground and would be a handful physically for defences in this league which we haven't had for a long time .
