Thursday, 22nd Aug 2019 11:10

Town keeper Adam Przybek has been named in the Wales U21s squad for their European Championship qualifiers against Belgium and Germany next month.

The Welsh youngsters face the Belgians at the Racecourse Ground, Wrexham on Friday 6th September, then the Germans at the same venue four days later.

Przybek, who joined the Blues in the summer having left West Brom, is yet to win an U21 cap having played for Wales at U17 and U19 level and England’s U16s.

Also in the squad is Brennan Johnson, son of late 1990s/early 2000s Blues striker David.

Wales U21s: Adam Przybek (Ipswich) George Ratcliffe (Cardiff City - loan Barry Town), Cameron Coxe (Cardiff City), Regan Poole (Manchester United), Rhys Norrington-Davies (Sheffield United - loan Rochdale), Ben Williams (Barnsley), Brandon Cooper (Swansea City), Ben Cabango (Swansea City), Jack Evans (Swansea City), Aaron Lewis (Lincoln City), Harry Clifton (Grimsby Town), Brennan Johnson (Nottingham Forest), Dylan Levitt (Manchester United), Terry Taylor (Wolves), Nathan Broadhead (Everton - loan Burton), Daniel Mooney (Fleetwood Town), Mark Harris (Cardiff City - loan Wrexham), Jack Vale (Blackburn Rovers), Niall Huggins (Leeds United), Liam Cullen (Swansea City).

Does this count towards the 3 international call-ups that would mean the Rochdale away game is rearranged?

chorltonskylineblue - I wouldn't have thought so because he's not a member of the senior squad set-up. Realistically we signed him as cover for Harry Wright if we send him out on loan and also as a free agent with longer term potential.

Are we sure Brennan Johnson qualifies for Wales? Not Scotland perhaps? ;-)

Looked it up. Can't find the rules, but found plenty of postponements due to 3 call-ups, which include Under 21s. Doesn't matter if they are in first team I think, don't see how that could be enforced really. Judge might make final Ireland squad. Maybe Georghiou (Cyprus) or El Mizhouni (but not sure if Tunisia have a game in this break?).

Tunisia U23s have two AFCON qualifiers, so seems likely El Mizouni will be called up. Almost certain there will be enough calls to get the Rochdale match postponed and suggested to me that Lambert will look to do so.
