Rochdale Visit Rescheduled
Wednesday, 28th Aug 2019 16:06

Town have confirmed that the game at Rochdale a week on Saturday has been postponed due to international calls with The Blues' first ever fixture at Spotland now sent to be played on Tuesday 5th November (KO 7.45pm).

Town have had the requisite three players called up and, as had been expected, have opted to have the game put back.

As previously reported, Anthony Georgiou, on loan from Tottenham, has been named in the Cyprus squad for their Euro 2020 qualifiers at home to Kazakhstan on September 6th and in San Marino three days later, while Armando Dobra is in the Albania U19 squad for two friendlies against Bosnia and Herzegovina on September 7th and 9th.
"
On Monday we revealed that Idris El Mizouni will be with the Tunisia U23s for their Africa Cup of Nations games against Cameroon, while Alan Judge had previously been named in the provisional Republic of Ireland squad for their Euro 2020 qualifiers against Switzerland on September 5th and Bulgaria four days later with the squad set to be finalised this week.

Additionally. Flynn Downes and Andre Dozzell are expected to be named in the England U20s squad for their games against Holland and Switzerland." That squad is also set to be named this week.

Young keeper Adam Przybek, who is yet to be involved in the first team since joining Town from West Brom in the summer, has been named in the Wales U21s.

Town’s home game against Wycombe on October 12th and the visit to Oxford on November 16th could also be subject to postponement due to international calls.

Would not have made sense to play this game when we were due to play Bury (28th March) who have now been removed from the League. Again, this does not show much regard for the supporters who had bought tickets assuming it was to be played on a Saturday as previously scheduled.

Because Rochdale are away at Bristol Rovers that day.

One club has been expelled from the League. There are an odd number of teams in the League.

One positive is there are two away games likely to be rescheduled for midweek so should be available to watch on iFollow for those that are unable to travel.

Campag Velocet, thanks for highlighting this. You know what they say - nothing like overlooking the obvious.

@ Westy - always a risk it was going to get postponed so most sensible people didn't bother with match tickets or travel plans.

Anyway, people the did but tickets can get refunded.

No game on the Saturday before as that was the "Bury" game so no excuse as players will be fresh as a daisy!

That's a shame. It was a new ground we were looking forward to.

Will have to send tickets back as we could never get there on a Tuesday evening.

Westy - Its the midweek after the Bury home game should have been played and before the FA Cup 1st round, so no league game on the Saturday before or after.

Seems like a good time to reschedule it!

I am very happy this game has had to be postponed. It shows that we have players that are getting picked at all levels by their countries. Going forward that can only be good for the future of ITFC.

Will not stop me going to Spotland on a cold November night, have the tickets as never been to Rochdale before. Remember visiting Darlington on a Tuesday night in the League Cup, who can remember that....

do we REALLY need to cancel this game. If we continue to improve surely playing is more advantageous. Even without those called up!!

Personally I would've played it and kept the good momentum going..chance for Huws to get a game (for Downes) & the others are only in and out of the team anyhow..even Judge hasn't been that great.

We shouldn't pick & choose...just get on with it.
