Town-Themed Sheep in Charity Auction Thursday, 5th Sep 2019 12:17 An Ipswich Town-themed sheep, part of the The Blossom Charity’s Sheep Art Trail in Eye, is to go up for auction next week. The Blossom Charity, who support teenage girls and women to be their best and live their lives to the full, organised its first Sheep Art Trail this summer — a theme chosen in celebration of hometown Eye’s historic connection to wool trade — in which sheep sculptures have been sponsored by local businesses and painted by local artists. From Thursday 18th July until tomorrow, 24 life-sized decorated sheep, along with seven painted lamb sculptures, have been dotted around the town. On Thursday 12th September, the sheep will be auctioned at Kenton Hall in Debenham. In addition to the Town sheep, which was designed by artist Chris Newson, there is a musically-inspired sheep signed by the musician Rick Wakeman and one signed by Gary Avis who dances with the Royal Ballet. The auction, which is sponsored by Imaginative Traveller, also includes other items for sale, including a Maggi Hambling painting and a framed T-shirt signed by Ed Sheeran, who is also the inspiration for one of the sheep, Ed Sheeram. Tickets to the auction can be purchased for £15 via info@theblossomcharity.co.uk or by calling 01379 678483. Bids can be placed online in advance here.
