Huws Starts as Blues Switch to 3-5-2 at MK Dons
Tuesday, 17th Sep 2019 19:27

Town are set to switch to a 3-5-2 formation as they face the MK Dons at Stadium MK.

Emyr Huws, James Wilson, Luke Garbutt and Jon Nolan return to the team for Myles Kenlock, who is left out of the 18, Luke Woolfenden, Gwion Edwards and Alan Judge, who are all on the bench.

Huws, making his first league start since the final day of the 2016/17 season, is set to be at the centre of the midfield alongside Flynn Downes with Nolan ahead of them behind strike pair James Norwood and Kayden Jackson.

Cole Skuse moves to the centre of the back three - a role he occupied at Sheffield United in last season's penultimate game - as Town match the Dons' usual system with Wilson to his left and skipper Chambers to his right with Garbutt and Kane Vincent-Young the full-backs.

MK Dons: Nicholls, Williams, Walsh, Houghton, Poole, Martin, McGrandles, Kasumu, Boateng, Dickenson, Nombe. Subs: Moore, Brittain, Lewington, Gilbey, Harley, Bowery, Agard.

Town: Holy, Chambers (c), Skuse, Wilson, Vincent-Young, Downes, Huws, Garbutt, Nolan, Jackson, Norwood. Subs: Norris, Edwards, Judge, Dozzell, Woolfenden, Georgiou, Keane. Ref: Lee Swabey (Devon).

Line up looks great on paper but not sure we had to be quite so radical in our approach and hope they can gel quickly or it could blow up in Lamberts face

Brave or reckless - time will tell

I trust in Lambert. But I don´t really get the chopping and changing and resting players. Anyway. We really have depth in our squad this season, nice to see.

Not convinced but time will tell. Why are we matching MK Dons? Surely give them something to fear! Skuse in a back three? Not for me!

It's a bit like a 4-4-2 when Skuse steps forward.......

I like the flexibility and attacking intent with Garbut and the young Kane playing.
Hopefully plenty of ammo for the top 2......

Can't wait to watch...£10 well spent.....

Interesting line-up. The system should suit Garbutt and KVY as they both look good going forwards.

on Saturday the service to front 2 was poor with very little chances. Hope this works and give KVY chance to get forward

I think anyone that saw how much Downes and Skuse struggled in the middle against Doncaster's 5 in midfield Saturday this is a good decision just not completely sure about Skuse at the back.

Nice to see the return of Huws and Garbutt but personally would like to a consistency of starting with centre backs...all the best lads!

On paper one of the strongest teams PL has selected so far. Right formation and team selection for me with wingers on the bench and plenty of striking options
