ITFC Women at Stevenage
Saturday, 21st Sep 2019 09:41

Ipswich Town Women return to FAWNL Division One South East action on Sunday when they take on Stevenage at the County Ground in Letchworth (KO 2pm).

The Tractor Girls, who beat AFC Sudbury 11-2 in the Suffolk FA Women’s Cup last Sunday, are currently third in the table having taken 10 points from 12 with Stevenage in ninth.

“I think we’ve had a such a strong start to the season that we’re looking to just carry that on right through and there’s no reason why we can’t do that,” said midfielder Paige Wakefield.

Stevenage have won one of their first five league games this season, losing the other four, but Wakefield says the Blues won’t be taking them lightly.

“I remember playing them last year, they’re a very physical side and this league’s really throwing a curve ball, every week there are different results and no one can be underestimated in this league at all,” she added.

“As I say, they’re very physical, but I think compared to last year we’re in a much better place so we’ll give them a much better game.”
