U18s Beat Bluebirds Saturday, 28th Sep 2019 23:13 by James Ager Town's U18s bounced back from their midweek defeat at Wigan to record a 3-1 victory against Cardiff City at Playford Road on Saturday morning. First-year scholar Nyan Mesuria (pictured) opened the scoring on the quarter-hour mark when he curled a central freekick around the wall and beyond keeper Bradley Stewart from just outside the area. Mesuria then doubled Town's lead on 21 with a fine first-time finish from a couple of yards inside the box follwing a cut back from Ben Wyss. The young Blues, who are up to third in the Professional Development League Two South table, added a third just four minutes later when the Cardiff defence failed to clear a freekick and Harley Curtis nodded the ball back into the danger area, which allowed Elkan Baggott to toe poke home from close range. The visitors pressed for much of the second half but they only had one goal to show for their efforts at full-time, a deep left-sided cross from Harry Pinchard which floated over Town stopper Jake Alley and into the net via the far post. Meanwhile, Town's youngsters have been handed a tough away tie at Framlingham Town in the second round of the CNet Training Suffolk FA Senior Cup. Adem Atay's side, who beat Bildeston Rangers 1-0 in the first round, will travel to Badingham Road to face the Thurlow Nunn Division One North side on Saturday 2nd November, 2pm kick-off. U18s: Alley, Wyss, Baggott, Alexander, Fehrenbach, Henderson, Curtis (Ruffles 64), Cutbush (Baker 80), Bareck (Reed 59), Gibbs, Mesuria. Unused: Kabongolo, Healy.
