Lambert: Great That Owner Evans is Putting His Face Out There More
Thursday, 3rd Oct 2019 13:46

Town boss Paul Lambert has welcomed owner Marcus Evans having more of a public face, believing it is something he needs to do and is a positive for the club.

Evans, pictured above with general manager of football operations Lee O'Neill, has famously shied away from publicity since taking over at Portman Road in December 2007 but gave his first on-camera interview to the club's in-house TV channel in April 2018, another earlier this year, was spotted on the pitch with Lambert and his staff at Milton Keynes and at the weekend gave selfies to fans ahead of the game against Tranmere.

“I said it when I first came in, when you're the owner and the custodian you have to put your face out there, and you have to take the rough with the smooth,” Lambert said.

“I get on really well with him and I think the club is in a strong place with him. He might not like the limelight, which I totally get, because some people aren't comfortable in front of the camera and media, but quite rightly he should be [putting his face out there] because the way the club is going at the minute is a big part of him as well.

“So he should take the plaudits as well because he's the custodian of it. There will be times when he and I disagree, but if he's taking photos and speaking to people then I think that's great for him and I think it's great for the football club in general.”

We go up, he doesn't invest sufficiently for the championship, (big step up, investment definitely needed) town fans stay silent, we go down or kick about in the bottom half.) That's my prediction! Hope I'm wrong but history suggests this is most likely.

I hope you're wrong too 81, and fortunately you usually are! If you'd had it your way Evans would be gone already.

......we don't need further investment right now in my opinion. Our squad with momentum from a promotion would be competitive in the championship.

Saxon, I've been a critic of Evans for years. We're playing Fleetwood on Saturday, (I'll be there.) Sorry, who's usually wrong?!! 😂🤣

Who are wolves playing? Bournemouth? Norwich? Leicester? Villa? Watford? All teams we rubbed shoulders with 11 years ago or so when Evans took over with a goal of getting to the Prem. I'm more interested in ITFC mate. We're playing Fleetwood. Keep backing Evans though whatever you do...

I reckon there's something else going on here, another part of Paul Lambert's big picture. He sees the need to grow the club at every level - staff development, club image, belief...and he's teaching Marcus Evans how to be the owner of a football club...

Got to laugh bluearmy_81, 6 of the teams you refer to have been in the third tier in the last 10 years and 9 of the 11 in the last 20 years, so by virtue of you even mentioning that you accept that it happens whom so ever is in charge.
As for who's usually wrong, well the fact is it is you, your'e prediction so far is wrong in terms of where ITFC would be in terms of league position.
You are wrong about FFP ( still won't admit it) you are wrong about ME taking interest for the loans ( still won't admit it) you were wrong about asset stripping, you are wrong about the average age of the members of your churlish facebook page and you were wrong when you quoted Einstein's theory of stupidity in reference to ME.
Most of all you are wrong to insult, as you have done on many previous occasions, the majority of genuine ITFC supporters who you refer to by any number of insulting names time and time again when they have the temerity to hold a different opinion to yours.

Good point Pegasus. I hope that PL gives Evans even more encouragement to put himself about a bit. While things are going well it is obviously easier for the owner to project himself more but equally the need for him to be more visible is just as essential when things are not going well. Even though he has/has had people to step forward for him he possibly could have been a bit more visible when things took a dive last season....... anyway lets hope that he pops up more frequently...... coyb
