Vincent-Young Nominated for Player of the Month
Wednesday, 9th Oct 2019 06:30

Blues right-back Kane Vincent-Young has been nominated for the Sky Bet League One Player of the Month award for September.

Vincent-Young, who joined Town for £500,000 from Colchester in August, enjoyed a hugely impressive September in which he scored his first two Blues goals, the winner in the 1-0 victory at Gillingham, completing a 25-pass move, and his brilliant solo effort during the 4-1 home defeat of Tranmere.

Nominated alongside the 23-year-old are Bristol Rovers striker Jonson Clarke-Harris, fellow forward Mo Eisa of Peterborough and Oxford United wideman James Henry. The winner will be announced at 6am on Friday morning.

Vincent-Young suffered a groin injury at the weekend at Fleetwood but last night assistant manager Stuart Taylor said he is expected back in training next week.

“He’s been in having his treatment and [physio] Matt Byard’s confident enough that he’ll be back not too far away," he said.

“We’ve got a break now with the four days with no game at the end of the week, so we’re looking for him to be back in for training next week.”

Daryl Murphy was the last Town man to win a Player of the Month award, at Championship level back in December 2015.

Perhaps surprisingly, Blues boss Paul Lambert has not been nominated for the Manager of the Month gong, having won the August award, despite Town’s September League One record of three wins and one draw.

Wycombe's Gareth Ainsworth, Fleetwood's Joey Barton, Graham Coughlan from Bristol Rovers and Oxford's Karl Robinson are the nominated quartet.

Well done KVY, surely a winner? As for Lambert, very odd but I know they don't like someone winning an award 2 months running.

Would be a deserved winner for sure! Any news on his injury front, all seems very quiet on that front!

Do we know anything Phil?

I haven't seen the other nominations for manager of the month, but I'd still put us in a top 3.

September Table would be
Bristol 3-2-0
Oxford 3-1-1
Fleetwood 3-1-0
Ipswich 3-1-0

You'd expect Bristol to win Manager of the Month. I would have nominated fleetwood and Ipswich, seems as oxford have the same points from one more game.

Wycombe is the other one Kropotkin, 10 points from 5 games.

I expect Karl Robinson of Oxford to win, 4 clean sheets in a row including a 6-0 away win.

TractorCam,

I didn't include them as they had a worse gd than us and played one more game. Strange for them to be picked.

That's a fair case for Oxford, but losing one takes the shine off for me.

I've added Stuart Taylor's comments about him from last night's quotes piece, expected to be back in training next week.

If this was based upon tur performances I can't see anyone pipping KVY for this month.

4 games, 1 goal conceded and 2 scored as defender, not just that but his overall performance levels are absolutely outstanding.

Great signing from Colchester...hopefully won't raise to many eyebrows out Championship clubs or above next season...

Well deserved & although the 2 goals will help his chances greatly, they tend to give these awards to forwards so it'll probably go to Eisa.

KVY a shoe-in. To be in the overall EFL TOTW for the second time this season might even be unprecedented (stato anyone) for a League 1 player?!
