Town Open Lambert Contract Talks Claim
Friday, 11th Oct 2019 14:45

Town are reported to have begun talks with manager Paul Lambert regarding a new contract.

Lambert, 50, took charge at Portman Road a year ago this month on a deal which runs to the summer of 2021 and Football Insider claims that discussions have started regarding extending the Scot’s time at Portman Road.

Having been unable to prevent the Blues’ relegation from the Championship last season, Lambert has led Town to the top of League One during the opening months of this campaign, four points ahead of second-place Wycombe Wanderers with a game in hand going into the weekend fixtures.

Positive move and I'll echo some of the already very well made points from other town fans on this post.

He has done tremendous in a very short period of time.

His previous loyalty is being questioned, but he took Norwich as far as he could by getting them into the top flight and Villa were a much larger club with longer term potential to remain in the top flight.

Giving him a long deal will make it expensive for other clubs to take him, therefore would need to be a top flight club for me and as he is currently plying his trade in League 1 that's unlikely.

He deserves the deal based purely on giving us our club identity back.

Norwich fans up here in north Suffolk and south Norfolk insists he is nothing without his old defensive coach, well egg on their faces at the moment as he is currently tearing up the early League 1 season and I hope it continues.

We need to support him financially no doubt and give him more funds in January to cover any injuries we sustain between then and now especially to the back four.

We equally should not forget the rest of the backroom coaching staff in this return to form though, they are all doing a tremendous job, well done guys and keep going please.

Wooley74. Your ultra realiable club source said no more investment. Not once but on 2 or 3 occasions over last 6 months.
Is he/she now saying this was made up?

ITFCsince73 I doubt very much 500k paid for one player equals major investment my man. The fact is my inside club source stated that Evans has been trying to sell the club for the last 18 months and has lost interest. Let's hope the continued good fortune makes him finally change his mind for all of our sakes...
