Ex-Blue Mings Set for England Debut
Monday, 14th Oct 2019 10:02

Former Blues defender Tyrone Mings is set to make his full England debut in this evening’s Euro 2020 qualifier against Bulgaria in Sofia (ITV from 7pm).

Mings was first named in an England squad for the September internationals but didn’t make it on to the field, however, it’s widely believed he will come into the centre of the defence for Michael Keane, twin brother of Blues striker Will, this evening.

The 26-year-old, who joined Aston Villa from AFC Bournemouth for an initial fee of £20 million in the summer, made 49 starts and 15 sub appearances for the Blues between December 2012 and June 2015 having been signed for £10,000 from Chippenham Town.

Mings, who hasn’t previously won a cap at any level, moved to the Cherries for £8.1 million with the Blues receiving a further £1.2 million following his Villa switch - with another £650,000 possible in the future - making him the club’s record sale.

After friday's lacklustre performance from England, Tyrone can't do any worse than Keane. Not sure about Rice and Rose either.

Thought we would move forward after the World Cup where our level was exposed by the top three Teams, France, Croatia and Belguim, but we seem to be going backwards at the moment.

The defence and midfield has got plenty of problems.

I'm afraid we're not as good as we thought we were. Congrats to Mings - what a rags to riches story - and a really decent person into the bargain.

Agreed 82. Although I'm struggling to think of any other fine moments from Mick ma.
The totally poor players brought in, against 1 or 2 any good.

And well done to ITFC legend Russell Osman. For recommending.
As we know ITFC legends wasn't Mick Ma,s cup of tea.
And wanted nothing to do with them, and the club nothing to do with them.

The England team is full of talent and we are still playing the best football since 1990s. A blip against a decent Czech side imo

Agree 09 and terry. I don't think Keane is good enough.

Can't think of a better England debut....looked a class act.
England regular for years to come.
Needed a reliable partner for Maguire. A modern day centre half.

Great to see Tyrone make his debut for England such a good chap with a big heart. Mind you Bulgaria were so poor mister blobby could have played centre back and where was Boncho Guenchev could still get in this team.
