Warne Set for Portman Road 'Walk of Shame'
Wednesday, 23rd Oct 2019 10:03

Rotherham’s Norwich City-supporting boss Paul Warne is set for what he calls a 'walk of shame' at Portman Road this evening.

Warne was born in Norwich and started his career with Norfolk sides Great Yarmouth Town, Diss Town and Wroxham before moving into league football.

The 46-year-old, whose team are 12th in League One, says he has plenty of friends coming to tonight’s match.

“I have got loads of people coming, about 20-odd,” he told the Yorkshire Post.

“I do not want to make a massive deal out of me being a Norwich fan as opposition grounds hate opposition managers and this will not help my cause. And it is a ‘walk of shame’ at Ipswich to the dug-out.”

Used to go to the same school, he was a couple of years below me. Some of his friends he is referring to are also lads I grew up and played football with. Nice fellow despite him supporting the budgies but then again myself and a few others were the odd ones out in deepest carrot country.

Hardly surprising he doesn't want to make a big deal out of that... who in their right mind would?

Saw him playing for Diss Town when they won the FA Vase final at the old Wembley stadium in 1994. He had long hair then!!

This isn't a Game of Thrones style Walk of Shame, is it ? That's a bit much, especially on a cold night.

Only the weirdo fans really care about ex players/managers etc supporting/playing for Norwich. I couldn't give fcuk if someone played 600 games for them, they are just another opponent and Ipswich winning is all that matters.

Strange comment for an opposition manager to come out with. Regardless of where he was born, he should be proud to manage a team visiting Portman Road.

Really not concerned and, like a few others, was oblivious to link. Concentrating on Town, make the necessary changes Lambert and lets get back to winning ways

@Behind_Enemy_Lines

Then I think I probably know you. I also went to that school and was in the year below his twin brothers. I wonder who you actually are. We were indeed a rare breed in deepest Norfolk as ITFC fans. Small World!

Hmmmm,

Can't help but think that he wants to be booed.

I personally won't be giving this nobody the attention.

It's only he's ego so that he has a story to tell to his grandchildren,

" I once got booed at Portman road "

Now if he came out in the collar of shame....

Yes, I had to sit through ' up ' a thousand times like those of you with kids :))

He thinks that's bad! I went into the club shop earlier to buy a shirt, and there was a bloke behind me in the queue wearing a Norwich jacket! He bought tickets to the game tonight because his son is a town fan and he wants to go with him! If he's got any sense he'll get changed first!
