Five Changes For Town Against Rotherham
Wednesday, 23rd Oct 2019 19:09

Town boss Paul Lambert has made five changes to his team for this evening’s home game against Rotherham United.

James Wilson returns to the defensive three in place of Toto Nsiala - who drops out of the 18 - having been suspended at the weekend and Cole Skuse moves back from midfield with Luke Woolfenden on the bench.

Kane Vincent-Young is at right-back after his groin injury and Gwion Edwards is on the bench.

In midfield, Emyr Huws replaces Andre Dozzell, who also misses out on a place in the squad, and Danny Rowe also comes into the team behind the front two with Alan Judge among the subs.

Up front, Will Keane starts alongside Kayden Jackson with James Norwood and Flynn Downes both back on the bench after groin surgery and a hip knock respectively.

Former Blues keeper Lewis Price is on the bench for the Millers alongside one-time Town trialist Chiedozie Ogbene.

Town: Holy, Chambers (c), Skuse, Wilson, Vincent-Young, Nolan, Huws, Rowe, Garbutt, Jackson, Keane. Subs: Norris, Edwards, Norwood, Judge, Downes, Woolfenden, Georgiou.

Rotherham: Iversen, Jones, Wood (c), Ihiekwe, Mattock, Olosunde, Wiles, Lindsay, Clarke, Crooks, Smith. Subs: Price, Barlaser, Lamy, Ogbene, Hastie, Morris, Ladapo. Referee: John Busby (Oxfordshire).

This looks like a strong starting 11, with good options on the bench. I am hoping for a positive reaction after Saturday, and it should be a great atmosphere tonight. COYB back to winning ways!

Glad KVY is back and Lambert is playing 2 up front...Dozzell and Judge rightfully not starting.

COYB!...Let's get back into the winning habit!

Woh. If Skuse plays in a back 3, that's a very lightweight MF of Rowe, Huws, Nolan.

Have already mentioned on a previous thread (as have others) that we need to play two up front and swap Edwards, Dozzell and Judge. Got to manage expectations,as its a long season and we have started far better than i could possibly have imagined, but thats a strong 11 and bench. If we dont put in a shift then i really cant(and wont) complain.

Come on you blues! 3 points please!

Bit worried about skuse in a back 3. Didn't work against Tranmere the other week. Pulled him forward and we started playing well. 🤷

I'm not mad about the Skuse as a centre back who can convert into midfield easily if/when we need it idea. I'd rather have Woolfenden in, slot Skuse in the middle alonside Huws & push Nolan into the advanced role. Surely we should be confident enough in our squad at this level to start off as we mean to go on.
That said, it's a strong side & bench and I'm glad to see Huws & Keane start. Despite their lack of match fitness, I thought both showed plenty of genuine class at Milton Keynes; both way too good for this level if they get an uninjured run of matches.

It's obvious PL is a wise old bird ,and has the options readily available to adjust the system ,the line up and / or the personnel as circumstances may dictate .
Can't be there unfortunately but COYB
