Eight Changes as Blues Face Coventry for Third Time
Tuesday, 10th Dec 2019 19:13

Town boss Paul Lambert has made eight changes for this evening’s FA Cup second-round replay at home to Coventry City, the third meeting in 10 days between the clubs.

Tomas Holy returns in goal with Barry Cotter at right-back, Myles Kenlock on the left and Toto Nsiala alongside Luke Woolfenden, one of three players who started Saturday’s 1-1 draw at St Andrew’s, at centre-half.

Stand-in skipper Cole Skuse is joined in central midfield by Emyr Huws with widemen Alan Judge and Gwion Edwards keeping their places from the weekend. James Norwood and Kayden Jackson are up front.

Coventry make three changes from Saturday’s game with Jamie Allen, Jordan Shipley and Liam Walsh in the XI for Dom Hyam, Zain Westbooke and Amadou Bakayoko, who all drop to the bench.

The winners of tonight’s tie, after 90 minutes, extra-time or penalties, will face either Plymouth or Bristol Rovers away in round three with the Pilgrims and Pirates meeting at Home Park next Tuesday.

Town: Holy, Cotter, Nsiala, Woolfenden, Kenlock, Edwards, Skuse (c), Huws, Judge, Jackson, Norwood. Subs: Norris, Wilson, Nolan, Downes, Dozzell, Garbutt, Keane.

Coventry: Marosi, Rose, McFadzean, Kelly (c), Allen, Biamou, O’Hare, Walsh, Dabo, Shipley, McCallum. Subs: Wilson, Mason, Hiwula, Hyam, Bakayoko, Godden, Westbrooke. Referee: Christopher Sarginson (Staffordshire).

That's a very decent strong line up. Brilliant for Cotter to get another big game.

Happy with that line up, on paper, stronger than it was last Saturday COYB

Looks great with one exception. Come on Toto, prove me wrong and don't commit any howlers (or get sent off!).

......one question though, 2 up top for FA cup but 1 for a league game?🤔

Showing a level of intent, perhaps apart from Toto, to actually progress in a cup for once. A useful looking line-up overall. Fingers crossed.......

Too much tinkering with the side. It may be a half decent line up but there's no continuity in the team. Every game we play, is like the players having to get to know new combinations all over again.

If we lose tonight, we seriously need to consider if Lambert is the right man for the job!

Far too many changes! Inconsistent team selection leads to inconsistent results!

Just poor!!

It's pantomime season but will cinders Toto be late for the ball . Nice to see Cotter get another chance he's got ability just needs to sort out his temperament. Don't know how any player can play with confidence not knowing if he'll be picked even after playing well.

Spot on Arnie M. Absolute joke. Being out played, out gunned at home. Tinkering all the time, players never getting any continuity.....and look at our results . 2-0 down at half time.

Ive been fortunate enough to see wins each time ive been to seen Town play this season(home n away). But Lambert is in serious danger of making a mess of our season. Seriously cant see us getting promoted with all this faffing around. Toto is NOT good enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chickens well and truly coming to roost, regarding Pl's rotation policy. Being given a lesson by a Cov TEAM. Very disappointing and worrying.
