Blues Linked With Szmodics
Saturday, 21st Dec 2019 22:21

Town have been linked with a January loan move for Bristol City attacking midfielder Sammie Szmodics.

The former Colchester man has been mentioned in connection with the Blues on the TWTD Forum and social media for a number of days but with Town sources having played down the likelihood of interest in the 24-year-old.

Szmodics joined the Robins from the U’s last summer but has made only two starts and two sub appearances.

Huddersfield Town and Hull City have both previously been linked with moves for the Colchester-born schemer and a switch to a Championship club appears more likely if Szmodics were to leave Ashton Gate on a temporary basis.

Agree Bryan. But Downes aside we don't have very good ones.

Sell Dozzell for a decent fee and get a proper attack minded midfielder in with a bit of bite. Either Dozzell is not right for Ipswich and needs quality around him or he simply is not good enough. I really don't know after so many years watching a player with promise not perform.

Our midfield goes missing too often. Can see why he maybe mentioned. Doubt this will go through. Plenty of gems to discover!!

Great another midfielder we could play him at left back.

We've already got the league's best attacking midfielder, sat on the bench every week, in Emyr Hues..

We have loads of midfielders but most are average or below average. We aren't creating. Need to off load some of the dead wood if possible. Then sign a permanent addition to replace. A goal scorer in midfield is a must.

hard to judge our midfielders too much due to the mayhem of selection and formation.
Skuse is looking Old, Nolan and Judge pretty but pretty ineffective - Downes off form yesterday,
What foot is Szmodics ?

I Would like a left sided centre back and if KVY is a crock for the season a right back on loan - Donacien has looked ok in a couple of recent games but he will not offer anything going forward.

A replacement for Georgio, who goes back to Spurs in January and who apart from a good 45 minutes coming on in his debut sub appearance at Portman Road hasn't looked any better than what we already have. We could probably reduce the wage bill by loaning Judge to QPR.

A loan target man for me please Santa. Wouldn't be surprised if we went back in for the big lump from Millwall by agreeing not to recall Bart, although I might consider recalling Bart as first choice keeper and letting Norris return but somehow think w might sell him to fund the purchase of Garbutt.

Edwards is on a two year contract (with an option) which expires in the summer so I wouldn't be surprised if we try to move him on, gives a bit more space for Dobra and Rowe when he returns from injury.

Can't think anyone will be interested in Nsiala but a loan out for him might work.

Need to get Folami out on loan to start to see if he can make it at FL level.

Think it would be good move to get McGavin and El Mizouni regular games in Div 2 as they are definitely part of our future, look what it did for Woolfy.

TheJam, I had thought that but sadly he is so far off the pace still I am seriously doubting whether he will ever get back to anything comparable to what he was.

Give Huws a run of games for goodness sake! How is he ever going to get back up to speed? Come to think of it, give our best 11 a run of games! Radical I know!!!

Taking my son along to the Boxing Day game. Boy oh boy we had better see an improvement. It can no longer be denied that this constant tinkering/rotation is NOT HELPING. I've said it before, that it's almost like Lambert thinks we are Man City or Liverpool or something and that he has this super quality squad with which to fool around. It must be evident to everyone that in every game the team seems unsettled and worst of all if he does have a Road to Damascus moment we still have to start all over again with the ‘settled squad' plan..

Sammy has the same friend group as me and to be honest he's 5ft nothing with the a big time Charlie complex's!
Asked him how it was going at bristol 2 weeks ago on a night out and he just waved his bank card 🙄!
Thankfully he said he's joining Huddersfield on loan! I feel we need a bigger more physical player in any case... someone like crooks from Rotherham maybe!

i wouldnt shed a tear for anyone being shipped out in January except Freddie , one or two players have give a good account of themselves but overall i cant see a Town legend emerging from this bunch ,except maybe the Wolf in time. Downe's blows hot and cold.We certainly need to sort the team out quickly or i can see the rot setting in.

We've got too many one paced midfielders at the club who have been kicking about for years we need to get rid of. Keep hearing Huws is getting stronger and stronger but i can't see it looks one paced. What are the chances of Bishop ever being fit again not even fifty fifty. Skuse has been a great servant but looks way past his best. Downes has been the best of a very average bunch but even he's not blessed with pace. We are down in div 1 for a reason the squad is not good enough not for automatic promotion anyway.

Ive only seen the Colchester lad couple of times and he's looked good definitely the type of player we need physically strong and quite pacy worth taking a risk on loan.
