Loanee Georgiou Returns to Spurs
Saturday, 28th Dec 2019 14:41

Winger Anthony Georgiou has returned to Tottenham Hotspur at the end of his half-season loan, Town have confirmed.

The 22-year-old Cyprus international joined the Blues in August but has failed to establish himself in the first team.

Overall, the London-born wideman made three starts, all in cup competitions, and 10 sub appearances, all in League One.

Given his lack of recent involvement - he has made only three league sub appearances in the last two months and has been left out of the 18 for the last two matches - Georgiou's return to White Hart Lane is not a huge surprise.

Tottenham have also recalled ex-Blues loanee Cameron Carter-Vickers from a spell at Stoke, Jack Clarke from Leeds and Kazaiah Sterling from Doncaster.

A bit like Grant Ward, a brilliant debut from the subs bench and little thereafter unfortunately. We still haven't solved the winger problem at ITFC.

No surprise there. Hard for the lad to make an impact in a team that is not encouraged/set up to explore the concept of creativity.

Not at all surprised. The lad has barely played so no real need to keep him. Suspect we will look at another loan option.

I agree Len Brennan, not a lot of encouragement for anyone who wants to cement their place in the team. Even after a good display, as you'll be rested.

Shame. Looked a player early on. Hope this means we have incommingpp

A wasted talent. Could have been effective in Lambert's once preferred 4-3-3 formation. The new Andros Townsend.

If Lambert does actually feel like using a winger the lad Clarke would be a good shout.
That being said I'd be surprised if Spurs want to do business with us now.

Looked good on debut, but only ever seemed to use his left foot. Once his opposing defender knew that he was never going to the right foot the job of defending against him was made much easier.

I feel sorry for the guy not being given much of an opportunity, but what's the point of loanees taking up space on the bench which one of our own players could occupy.

No great loss in my opinion. Not a bad player, but flattered to deceive

Carter-Vickers recalled from loan at lowly Stoke. Out on loan again perhaps ? Like to have him back alongside the wolf.

Not having this not given a chance stuff. He has a chance every day in training and played several games without hitting heights of debut. He's a loanee and he has to perform better than we have week in and week out or he is blocking someones pathway. I liked the look of him but he hasn't been able to do quite enough unfortunately. If he was our own there is the argument to give him a run to develop him. Loanees need to offer more and hit ground running.

Fully agree Bert. I think a pairing of C-V and Wolfie in central defence would give us a much more solid base. Something we've been desperately lacking in recent displays.

Another midfielder who's done bu99er all this season to help the promotion push.

About time some of them started knocking in a few goals.

Not surprised he's returned to spurs too much of a big time Charlie attitude for me .You have to show a certain amount of effort to earn a place in any team his work rate was very poor probably the reason he hasn't been a loan success elsewhere. The defence has been reasonably solid this season we don't need another defender more importantly we need strong attacking midfield players possibly two.

Dont agree at all. Training(not including pre season) is half pace five a sides, set pieces and ideas. No one wants to get injured....from experience....and no way of judging a player apart from their apathy. I felt he had talent going forward....more than Edwards(on the other flank) has showed and would have liked to see him in the thick of things. 5/6 mins as a subs is pointless.

Anyway...thats done now. What about Dobra?

Linkboy13... like show the same determination and drive as Downes but still be dropped??? Our main problem is our pathetic owner but if this manager doesn't get us out of this league with the players at his disposal he is equally as pathetic! Next 3 games will determine where we are...... COYB

Carter-Vickers? He's never going to sign for a mediocre league one side like us.

Never really given a chance but then again who is given a chance in the team you might be lucky to play 2 games in a row. Prob play Sears out wide, Great!!! Just stick him up front we need goals.

After all these years the only nailed on starters when fit are calamity and his best bud.
That's why we chase the mighty Wycombe. And keep one eye on the mighty Oxford catching us.
After all we are currently in our worst position in over half a century.

Will be no great loss. I am sure we have as good if not better in our youth squad. Bring them in and give them needed experience.

Sounds like the best move, I think El Mizouni and Dobra perhaps benefit more and have more opportunities unless we can find them a loan option for regular games say in L2.

This will also hopefully give us capacity to take on another loan - a target man I believe is our main need or a full back to allow Garbutt to play further forward.

But he was one of the reasons we were calling games off! Purely pathetic calling games off for the sake of it.
