Blues Linked With Coventry Midfielder Shipley
Tuesday, 31st Dec 2019 13:34

Town boss Paul Lambert is reported to be keen on Coventry City midfielder Jordan Shipley.

According to Coventry Live, Shipley, 22, caught the eye of the Blues manager over the course of the three recent fixtures between the sides, two in the FA Cup and one in League One, and could be tempted into a move for the Leamington Spa-born schemer in January.

Shipley, who is contracted to the Sky Blues until June 2021, came through the academy ranks at Coventry, breaking into the first team in April 2017. Since then the Republic of Ireland U21 international has gone on to make 82 starts and 25 sub appearances, scoring 14 goals, five this season, including one against the Blues in the FA Cup replay at Portman Road.

While Town boss Lambert has said he’d like to add to his squad in January he has repeatedly said that players may have to leave before he can recruit.

“We can only do it if there’s money available or we sold some guys,” he said following the Lincoln match. “We don’t have the money, we can’t go out and buy.”

Doesn't mention Shipley is out injured or coming back to fitness having been injured. Are we really looking at a player the right age who's up and running? If so we won't be able to afford him.

Watched him play at st Andrews and was impressed, we desperately need wide midfielders imo. Let's face it judge has not set the world alight and is not a wide player, plus Edward's for me is not good enough, who else does that leave? Dobra looks a prospect but is still young. Feel this would be a great signing, would love Ronan curtis at pompey but think he is out of our reach.

43 Professionals, 21 First Team Squad - add another would only lead to more rotation I suspect.
Forget it.

P.l.'S ROTATION SCHEME MEANS THAT HE NEVER PLAYS HIS BEST, STRONGEST, TEAM.Unless he changes we should rotate managers

Yes Blueboy but out those you mention. Only 9 are good enough.

Rotation is ok as long as players are used to playing along side their partner, ie toto and Luke W. Not played as a pair then both asked to play in an important game as a defensive pair. Also Skuse asked to play full back, how can you expect that to work

Swap for Gwion Edwards, see if they want Nsiala as well.

Then sign Tommy Smith

Then replace Giorgio with a loan target man.

Then get 2/3 of our best youngsters out on loan for experience And regular games and squad will have been trimmed.

Such a positive attitude from so called 'supporters'.

Is far too comfortable on the ball, creative, forward thinking.Add to that his ability to score his quota of goals and he's everything that our midfielders aren't. Would be horribly out of place at Portman Rd.

Haven't you noticed Coventry have no ground, little home support and only keep going because of sales. They sold James Maddison to the Budgies relatively cheaply because they needed the money. That's not to say they will not want more than we want to pay or that he would want too come. You can be sure though that ITFC pay more than Coventry.
