Bishop: Great to Be Back Out on the Pitch
Thursday, 2nd Jan 2020 16:26

Midfielder Teddy Bishop was delighted to get back into first-team action as a late sub at Wycombe yesterday after his latest injury setback.

The 23-year-old, who suffered medial ligament damage at the Interwetten Cup in Germany in July, came on in the 88th minute against the Chairboys.

"It's great to be back out on the pitch and it would have been nice if we had been able to get the three points," Bishop told the club site.

"But it was a better performance than we have had in the last few weeks so I think we'll take it and move on. I was obviously pleased to be involved.

"There haven't been any U23 games for me to play in but I was still feeling ready to come back because I've been training for the last four weeks or so and that has all gone well.

"My fitness is up there so hopefully I can take the minutes I got against Wycombe into the next block of games.

"Wherever it is, and whatever competition, I just need to get minutes to kickstart my season.”

Bishop could well make his first start of the season when the Blues face Exeter City at St James' Park in the third round of the Leasing.com Trophy on Saturday.

Good to see him back. Hopefully he can stay fit and play a big part for us over the next few months. I've always rated him as a good footballer, comfortable on the ball and can create, drop a shoulder, beat a man and unlock something which is what we've lacked. We've got a lot of quality on paper in the middle with Downes / Bishop / Dozzell / Huws. Need to start seeing the best of them all.

Different class when fit. Having Teddy, Freddie and KVY all back and fit will make a big difference. Add a new centre back and another striker in January and we still might have a chance of making the play-offs this season.

I hope for his sake as well as ours, he can make an impact between now and the end of the season! He has a natural ability to glide past players in his day, I just hope we can utilise it properly when he's injury free!

..... let's hope this attempt lasts longer than previous for Bishop - you can have all the talent in the world, but that's not all that makes a Footballer.
You have to be out there to do the business.
Appearances will now tell a story, one way or other !

Really hope he can get back to best , but one more long term injury could finish his career.

We need our midfielders to start scoring goals.
Downes, Dozzell, Bishop, Skuse, Huws, Judge I could count all of their goals on two hands

For me, Bishop is one of only a very small handful of ITFC players who can change a game - the other three being Sears, KYV and Huws.
I'm confident Freddie and KYV will stay fit and string a run of games together : history suggests the same is unlikely to apply to Huws and Bishop. If all 4 can get properly fit and find form, we'll be right up there come the end of May.

3 out of those 4, @monkeymagic and we'll be top two, I'd put my house on it.

decent player, and would be good to have him back in team,BUT fitness is a huge issue, and sadly he is one of those players that who will always be a risk.

Sorry Daz, but KVY, Sears, Bishop, and Jack Lankester would be my priority list right now. I really think Huws should be used sparingly and be focusing on net season after what he has gone through and the sheer lack of confidence on the ball he showed at Wycombe.

Heard whispers that Jack was training. He was a revelation last season and has been a huge miss this, but unrealistic to pin hopes on an injured kid....hence last in that list.

Its vital now that Bish kick starts his career.
When you talk of players to good for L1, a fit Bish is to good for the Championship.
He needs to forget how much his car cost, how much money he has in the bank. If a strand of hair is out of place.
And really kick on. As the last 3 years has been a total waste for club and player.

Some Players will always have more desire to watch than play, absolute fact, nothing being expected of them, and being paid the same without the effort. Especially winter time, when the gloves, and tights become a necessity for some .... !! At such times the treatment room is a much cosier option, you don't get kicked, or cold, in there.
Others enjoy the rough and tumble rigour of the game, and can't wait to get out there come what may.
Time for Bishop and a couple more within the squad to decide which category they fit.
Believe me, they are not all Gladiators, but know how to enjoy the glory.
Controversial maybe - but CORRECT.
