Bolton Targeting Nsiala Move
Wednesday, 8th Jan 2020 14:47

TWTD understands that Bolton Wanderers are eyeing a permanent move for Blues central defender Toto Nsiala.

Nsiala, 27, has been in and out of the Town side in recent weeks having recovered from the hamstring injury he suffered in pre-season.

The Kinshasa-born DR Congo international, who grew up in Liverpool, joined the Blues from Shrewsbury in the summer of 2018 in a double deal with Jon Nolan, following their former Shrews manager Paul Hurst to Portman Road.

In total Nsiala, who is contracted to Town until the summer of 2021 with the club having an option for a further season, has made 28 starts and five sub appearances for the Blues, scoring once.

If Nsiala’s departure for the Trotters is confirmed, it is likely to lead to further speculation that the Blues could look to re-sign former central defender Tommy Smith, who is continuing to train with the U23s at Playford Road having left the Colorado Rapids during the MLS close season.

Turned out to be a truly dreadful signing. But clearly had done well for Shrewsbury previously. His confidence is shot, he's not played well and a move would be good for him and us.

I was at the boxing day game and he looked like a player completely shot of confidence...much as he seems like a nice guy, I have never seen a professional footballer completely miss the ball when trying to kick it multiple times in a match. Having said that, the recovering slide tackle he made after the first miss kick was truly brilliant...

Fresh start for him and some money back for us would seem like a good deal for both parties.

Provided we get a replacement thats fine. He has all attributes but too many kamikaze moments in him

If you go Toto, “ good luck and thank you for your services “. I can only apologise on behalf of the mindless morons that have abused you online . Utterly disgraceful attacks on someone only trying his best . NO excuses for their behaviour.

I feel for the guy as I cannot fault his effort but at times he needs to back off and think instead(re your post blueandtrue) of going at like a bull in a china shop, but at least he gives his all (while limited) unlike some.

I'm not Nsiala's biggest fan - BUT he is like several other victims of Lamberts delusional, hideous rotation idea, and he has (like others) not known where his rear end hangs from one game to another, or who he would have playing with, or around him.
Doesn't make it easy for anyone to perform to the best of their ability in such circumstances.
Anyone who has played the game will know this, others wouldn't have a clue - hence the tone of some posts / criticism.
Good Luck Toto - if you move, you won't miss this current regime at ITFC.

Maybe ok with an experienced talker next to him
But seems to have a mistake in him every game

I would love it if Nsiala took up the offer - 'drive him there myself'

SIMPLE - if there is any logic surrounding this Lambert era - this Club needs to be pursuing a deal to bring Tommy Smith back.
No brainer - but Lambert will almost certainly be too stubborn to do that.
Our Club needs Tommy Smith, and he should never have left.

As useless as he has been for us I get that horrible feeling he'll mysteriously become a colossus for Bolton so maybe a loan with a view to getting a few quid for him in the summer if he does!
Let's hope tommy signs, I don't think he's the exact player we are looking for but we could do a lot worse, he even chips in with a few goals and is more of a threat from set pieces than any other defender we have (not including Garbutt)

..... therein61 - what's the point of a Coach that can't coach that simple trait out of a player ?
That's primarily what good coaches can, and do with players.
Been an anomaly at ITFC for far too long - what do the First Team Coaches do ? - when we see elementary simple errors / faults from certain players, season after season.
Mark me down, but no one can deny this.

i love tommy smith, but it's a long time since he played well in england.

at that time berra was playing well and nsiala was one of the best defenders in league one, but they aren't being considered as saviours of itfc!

not sure why tommy will have improved so much in the mls

Not going to mark you down blueboy1981 I have no need just stating my opinion, you have a valid point re coaching but some players find it difficult to understand or take in the methods before them the guy was and played well at his previous club, but it hasn't happened for him at our club, but at least he tries!!!!!

Do you think Bolton would take Paul Lambert too?😀

dirtydingusmagee added 18:48 - Jan 8
got to admit i wouldnt be bothered to see him move on , he is, as has been said probably a decent bloke, but he is a worry when he plays, always pencilled in to give away a penalty, having an early bath ,or both , we have enough worry's without his errors.

Can we have an I support Ipswich Town page. Some comments on here are unbelievable. For goodness sake support the team. The owner will be gone, players will be gone but true supporters will always be here.

As poor as he's been for us recently, the lad still has potential, good luck to him if he goes.

Can't believe you are rubbishing him when Bolton officials may be reading.

A great player, the best defender we have here at the club, but would not stand in his way if he wants to move. Worth £10 million. Or we would swap him for D. Murphy + £5 million.

Most probably a lovely bloke, but not good enough as a player for the town! Harsh, but sadly true. That said wish nsiala all the best if he moves on.
