Bialkowski Set to Join Millwall on Permanent Basis
Monday, 27th Jan 2020 10:26

Town and Millwall have agreed a deal which will see keeper Bartosz Bialkowski join the Lions on a permanent basis.

The 32-year-old Polish international is currently on a season-long loan at the Den but with both parties having been keen to tie-up a longer-term switch this window.

Millwall before other clubs look to sign him in the summer - Cardiff and Blackburn showed interest early in the window prior to a deadline for his January recall passed - and Town to gain cash which they could now work with during the final days of the transfer window with a loan or perhaps two more likely than permanent additions.

According to Football Insider, Bialkowski will sign an 18-month deal at Millwall.

In June, Bialkowski came close to joining the Lions on a permanent basis but the move broke down due to concerns regarding the keeper’s knee which emerged during his medical and the £900,000 deal was called off.

A month later the loan move was agreed and Bialkowski has enjoyed a very impressive first half of the season for the Championship side with the Lions’ worries about his knee have been allayed by the keeper's consistent involvement this season. He has made 29 starts and one sub appearance.

It’s understood the fee agreed between the clubs is lower than the one agreed in the summer with an initial sum plus further cash payable over the duration of the deal and add-ons related to appearances and performance.

Bialkowski made 177 starts and one sub appearance for the Blues having signed from Notts County in the summer of 2014 on a free transfer.

The 6ft 4in glovesman, who had a short spell on loan at Town in 2009 without making a senior appearance, won the club's Player of the Year gong in three successive seasons before relinquishing the award in 2018/19.

Right call much as I'd love to have Bart between the sticks next year he's on big Money, we need maybe someone in to help us over the line.

Makes sense

Good luck Bart and thanks for all the brilliant work!!!
This is the right call just hope for once we get paid correctly for the player, and funding in order to build a bid for Garbutt.

Absolutely gutted to lose Bart to Milwall, but that shows just how disastrous relegation was for us. Looking good to bounce back at the first attempt, which would be great, as Sheffield United spent 6 years down in league 1 or something

Excellent news! I assume its around the £1m mark we'll get then, which could mean a possible window signing.... LEFT BACK PLEASE!!!!!!!!

This line slightly worries me...

"It's understood the fee agreed between the clubs is in line with the terms of the summer deal."

In line with?? I certainly hope it's not less... should be more, given the performances he's been giving this season - and with other clubs interested, could've got more in the summer.

I get that this should release funds to use now - but I doubt it would be a lump sum up front, and will it all be given to Lambert to strengthen? With us now being top - we don't want a repeat of not strengthening when in a good position as happened in 14/15.

So he goes to Millwall proves a massive favourite after some outstanding shows and then signs for less money then we were after in the summer, don't make any sense.

"In line with" is the phrase used, so will be about the same, hopefully slightly more given his recent performances.

Surely its our decision how much to sell him for? am i missing something? they want him, they've made it public they want the permanent deal so bump up the money to what we want for him , surely Bart is worth more than 1 Million in today's market????

It is understood that the fee agreed is lower than the one agreed in the summer ! Think that means lower than the 900,00 !!

If Bart goes for less than a million it will be a travesty. I thought ME was a shrewd business man. With two other top clubs in their division I would be inclined to see how much we could get. Surely in a situation like this the club needs to be more savvy and not back down on the original deal. Millwall are getting a top goalkeeper for very little. Come on ME you know the game!!!!

Hmm seems the story has been updated. I find getting LESS than the previously discussed £900k pretty odd. They want him more than ever, we are the selling club, we are in control..

that line now amended to "It's understood the fee agreed between the clubs is lower than the one agreed in the summer " - shame...

less than the frankly crap amount offered in the summer??? what is the point of selling him then....
if that stays as it is we still don't seem to have learned from the past and still get the pi$$ taken out of us over transfers!!!

This has really angered me.

I don't begrudge Bart moving on and wish him all the best, but we've let Millwall take us for absolute mugs!

They found every excuse under the sun not to pay the £900k for Bart when he was at his absolute lowest in the summer. Now he's gone there and been a star they're somehow getting him for even less!

I just don't see any other clubs that are as happy as us to be treated like idiots with every players we sell.

We got him for nothing, but he's been on big wages, so we need to get him off the books first and foremost. If that means we have enough funds to get who we want this transfer window, then although gutting to sell him cut-price, that's what we'll do. I think the fact we're selling him now means it's less about what we're doing selling him, and more about who we have lined up to come in the door over the next few days...

We're football's version of bargain hunt sold down the river again.

I expect we're still paying some of his high wages, the deal will get him off the payroll completely and provide PL with a bit of funding.

That's a real shame to hear. I had hoped we'd bounce back up and Bart would be rejoining in the summer to boost the ranks. Lambert must have a clear desire to use any cash towards consolidating promotion - ie he has a player or two in mind, or wants to try a Garbutt tempter (his set pieces are becoming pretty important). Just a shame to not see us look for more cash for Bart as he's clearly worth it. I wonder if some of this is also Bart's desire to stay settled locally and not end up having to uproot his family again...and us respecting that...(maybe!)

Sounds like we're being royally mugged off to me, I know we want his wages off our books and can only sell him for what someone is prepared to pay, but first they pull off a load of bull with his medical and now we accept a lower fee?

Wickets added 11:51 - Jan 27
Bart wants to stay at Millwall apparently ,we want him off the wage bill , PL needs to sell if he wants to bring someone in so we dont have much option but it is possible we have already had a loan fee hence the reduction !
