Brazil Announces Semi-Retirement
Sunday, 15th Mar 2020 15:57

Former Blues striker Alan Brazil has announced his “semi-retirement” from his role on talkSPORT’s breakfast show.

Brazil, 60, who has been with the station since it was launched in 2000, is to switch to two days a week.

"After 20 years of early-morning starts, Monday to Friday, that's me entering into semi-retirement with talkSPORT,” he told the Sunday Post.

“From this week, I'll only be assaulting the airwaves on Thursdays and Fridays.

"But I'll still be hurting your eardrums in the build-up to the weekend football action - whenever it restarts - and around even more when the big events come along.”

Laura Woods is expected to be Brazil’s permanent replacement on the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday breakfast shows having previously deputised.

Brazil made 195 starts and 15 sub appearances for the Blues, scoring 80 times, between 1978 and 1983 having come through the youth system and was a member of the side which won the UEFA Cup in 1981.

Good luck to him, plenty of good memories ,he was from the times when pride and effort was part and parcel .A force to be reckoned with , a far cry from our present bunch who cant even put 90 minutes in .

If you've got a mind of your own and speak honestly then you're not welcome on this forum!! Alan Brazil would be the first to admit that his broadcasting skills leave a lot to be desired, but he found a way of being entertaining whilst making errors and sounding uncomfortable. That was the appeal of the man for me,and with Mike Parry it was a great listen.Talksport/ talksh*t has become mind numbing over the last few yrs.The radio version of the sun newspaper. Unqualified broadcasters getting fact upon fact wrong, unable to read the football scores correctly, and in Sam Matteface a 'commentator who never tells the listener where the f@#king ball is !! Right decision at the right time Alan.

The morning drive wont be the same. Love him on Talksport. Funny, and a throwback to less politically correct times who has been a massive success for Talksport. Always talks fondly of Itfc and hilarious recently with ally mccoist.

Really enjoyed Alan's shows when he teamed up with Mike Parry right couple of jokers. Mike once owned a flat in Ipswich on the Orwell Quay don't know if he still does.

If there has been a better finisher than Brazil for Ipswich, it is before my time
Never saw Crawford, and he was better than Stewart
IMHO

He was at his best with Mike Parry for a few years. Was radio gold that pairing.

Always have talkSPORT on in the car and at the office.

Was a bit young when he was playing for us but heard and seen plenty of clips!!!
