Lankester Finally Ready to Make Return
Wednesday, 8th Apr 2020 13:29

Blues forward Jack Lankester is celebrating having been finally given the OK to return to full training once football resumes.

The 20-year-old has been out of action since the pre-season tour of Germany having undergone surgery for a second stress fracture in his back.

The academy graduate was back out on the grass doing some training in February but now specialists have indicated that he is fine to join in with the rest of the squad once the players return to Playford Road, much to Lankester’s obvious relief judging by a post on Instagram yesterday.

As things stand football is suspended indefinitely but with tentative plans understood to be in place for a June return depending on developments with the coronavirus pandemic.

By the time football is given the all-clear to resume players will require a few weeks of pre-season-type training with the break since play was suspended midway through last month longer than their usual summer hiatus.

Brilliant news! Feels like so long ago when he scored against Millwall. Things have gone from bad to worse for the club since he's been out all this time. Could take him a while to get his match fitness and sharpness back still and he won't have a chance to work on either of those for a while. Shame Nsiala isn't still here as there's no way he could get 2 metres near Jack even if he wanted to!

I would say more the latter Spanish Blue. Technically very good and has an excellent delivery and set plays. More the Freddie Sears role (Which wasn't ideal for Freddie). Either side of a striker would do well i think. Decent energy as well from what i've seen.

We're going to lose some good players in the summer but keep this boy fit with Huws, Bish, Dobra, El Mizouni (and dare is say Dozzell) and we have great technical ability. a just need some strength and battle around it. Huws is a good size but would love to see a proper 'enforcer' in the middle to compliment the young lads.

Skuse is a quality pro but we lack someone nasty in this league.

Mike i think there's more than one missing link at the club more like about seven. I keep seeing all these so called talented players quoted on this site when are they going to start delivering . It's funny when we are not playing people start getting optimistic. We are a mid table team for a reason most of the players are over rated or not good enough and the club needs a big clear out.

Fantastic player and news! For me talent wise has what Dyer has great low sense of gravity, direct, quick, can score goals but also has a decent free kick on him. Excellent news.

Oh dear think we're getting just a bit carried away with Jack Lankester. He's a player with potential like a lot of young players at the club, but to compare him to Dyer is a bit far fetched .
