Town Announce New Ticketing Partner
Friday, 17th Apr 2020 16:45

Town have linked up with SeatGeek who will be the club’s new ticketing partner from the 2020/21 season.

The multi-year deal with SeatGeek, the leading global mobile-focused ticket platform, who already work with Manchester City and Leicester and almost half the clubs in the top two tiers, is aimed at giving supporters an improved ticket purchasing experience, particularly via mobile devices.

“We are incredibly excited to announce that Ipswich Town’s ticket offices will be powered by SeatGeek in time for the start of the 2020/21 season,” Town’s director of retail operations Lee Hyde told the club site.

“We are always looking to provide our supporters with the best possible experience and after an exhaustive process we have every confidence that we have selected the perfect partner in SeatGeek.

“Our fans will instantly notice an improved user experience throughout the purchase journey and SeatGeek’s SRO technology will allow us to strengthen communication with our supporters.

“SeatGeek’s approach to ongoing technical upgrades will ensure an extremely reliable, convenient and secure ticket purchasing process for fans.

“Ipswich Town will benefit from much improved flexibility in terms of selling tickets and a wider arsenal of functionality.

“Together we will work to introduce mobile-friendly ticket fulfilment with access control turnstiles at Portman Road allowing the scanning of tickets from mobile handsets.

“This will vastly improve the matchday experience of Blues’ fans from the start of the 2020/21 season.

“While match tickets, season tickets and memberships are at the forefront of the online ticketing experience, Town fans will also be able to book a number of hospitality packages for matches from the 2020/21 season onwards too.

“Further, detailed, information will be communicated to fans in due course with regards to the launch of the SeatGeek ticketing experience.”

Peter Joyce, managing director of EMEA Sport at SeatGeek, added: “Ipswich Town is a club with a proud history and we are thrilled to have them join the list of partners using SeatGeek’s ticketing technology.

“Our team are working closely with Ipswich to prepare for the season ticket launch and we look forward to the full rollout ahead of next season at Portman Road.”

Finally moving in to the 21st century. You'd think Marcus Evans would have been ahead of the curve on stuff like this Hopefully they don't add a bunch of fees on to it.

Phew! Glad we got that one sorted, just in time for our future of behind closed door matches.

Corporate mumbo jumbo, the club have obviously been instructed to employ full WOW-word use with this announcement. It says almost nothing about what any of these benefits are. This must be the sort of Sh1t that gets written when you furlough your staff.
What use is a full arsenal of functionality when you only need 2 tickets for Fleetwood at home?

Will the same priority system be allowed with Seatgeek ?

I like a printed ticket - disappointed if it is print at home let alone download to mobile

LOL, whats the betting it still involves just handing your "mobile friendly ticket device" over to the turnstile operator for them to scan it for you

Londontractorboy I agree and don't know why you have been marked down, I'm not complaining but some sort of announcement wouldn't hurt. I was also told by the club months ago that an announcement would be made shortly about the unplayed Bury game , but again nothing. It's not right that the club just keeps it. If they didn't plan on refunding season ticket holders in some way they should have donated the money to Bury to help them with their problems at the time.

What a load of corporate mumbo jumbo cr@p. Turns the simple act of purchasing a ticket into sounding like an adventure. SeatGeek indeed.

I'll have to buy a bigger scrapbook to put all the mobile phone tickets in, and get a new phone every week.

Will there still be the usual ways of attending? Season tickets and paper tickets? Not everyone has a smartphone!

Sorry this is all gobbildy gook to me-----the club will not retain its true link to the public unless it gives you the opportunity again to purchase tickets over the phone, even for a limited designated time each week.

Also with this new mob will it mean job losses, however furtively and secretly done?

Mm - be wary. Be very wary. One of the massive plus points of the club is the relationship the Ticket Office has with the diehard fans - particularly season ticket holder like myself who live many miles away from the club - they are brilliant. Having bought tickets for a West Ham game a few years back to see how they'd worked the new stadium (awfully!), with their 'ticketing partner' a £10 ticket turned out to be £15 once their 'booking fee' and extras were added. Terrible if that's the route we now go down and another severing of the community spirit of the club that's kept me with them 40 years. I don't know how much longer I can go on if we continue to corporatise so shamelessly.

Albeit not groundbreaking news but people just love a moan. The club have made a clear improvement here bringing the ticketing system into the 21st century and it's just negativity on here. Laughable

Sorry have I missed something here. Ipswich Town assumes apart from season ticket holders after this season people are going to buy tickets to watch the team in league 1 again next season. Dream on, after the poor performances towards the end of this season and the possible loss of young quality players what type of poor football are we going to be served next season. Please ME we as fans have had enough of broken promises and uninspiring football at this club. With nothing going to change next season and the prospect of worse football and quality I think I will pass.

Why does a bloke who sells tickets for a living need someone to do it properly for him?
