Town Players Have Not Turned Down Wage Deferral
Sunday, 26th Apr 2020 14:57

TWTD understands that contrary to earlier reports the Town players have not turned down a wage deferral with discussions with owner Marcus Evans ongoing.

Earlier, today The Sun on Sunday claimed the Blues squad had turned down Evans’s request for them to take a wage deferral, however, we understand that that is not the case.

The two parties were unable to come to an accord for a wage deferral to be introduced for April as there was too much to be done within a short space of time, negotiations having started in the wake of the PFA and EFL’s recent agreement regarding a proposal which would allow up to 25 per cent of players’ wages for April to be conditionally deferred.

Evans, who has spoken to both the PFA and the EFL, is maintaining a constant dialogue with senior players with the two sides each having a desire to put something in place going forward as the club looks to cut immediate costs due to the coronavirus crisis.

Virtually all Town’s office staff are currently on furlough with the Blues - who make a loss of several million pounds every season in any case - facing a significant drop in income due to the suspension of the season.

At the end of last month, manager Paul Lambert said he and his staff would be willing to take a wage deferral.

He's lying, by refusing to not be paid is them turning your proposal down, it's not a decision to agree to agree it possibly in the future. Stop lying. Evans is incapable of the truth and TWTD again spinning in his favour rather than telling the supporters the truth.

Fact: Marcus Eva asked the players not to take a wage during the non playing period
Fact: Players refused to accept this and still want to be paid

This means they refused. Stop lying. Just stop lying. We're fed up with your spin, your ineptitude and the continuing bu llsh it you come out with.

No amount of spin can change facts Evans.

Its your own fault Evans. You might not be so hard up if you had backed the club in the past. We may not have been a sh!te league 1 club now. So, if you are losing more than you would have liked you should have put the money into the team. You might not have been so desperate to claw every penny back now. Hang your head in shame Evans.

Shocking why should they be any different to anyone else. This is an Easy one. Sack them.

Would've loved the wage deferral option instead of the 40% wage cut force upon me. Although singled out for criticism unfairly when there are loads of businesses using the furlough scheme to protect profits not jobs, it is hard to feel sympathy for any footballer when the best they can agree to (or not in this case!) is to get a slight deferral on some wages. Meaning in a year or so time they won't be out of pocket even a penny!

The players are the biggest cost and they need to take less money during this period, deferred or reduced.
The club is not going to survive otherwise.

Very interesting points you raise Bluearmy_81 just to give everyone the opportunity to appreciate your conclusions will you be kind enough to let us all know where you got the "FACTS" from, because only anyone that has direct contact with the owner could possibly know what you say is fact.

To look at this from the point of view of a player, Mr Evans is an extremely rich man, far richer than the lot of them put together. Ipswich Town is a subsidiary of his business empire. Therefore, the players are being asked to make an interest-free unsecured loan to an unsuccessful subsidiary of an extremely rich man. Had he wanted a force majeur clause in their contracts he could have inserted one, but didn't. The better players could turn round to him and say that if their salaries are a problem then give us free transfers knowing that he wouldn't as he wants to be able to collect on their transfer fees.

Government help isn't available to Billionaire business owners, who bend all rules to not contribute to the government.
Football is a disgrace. Owners and players.
Maybe the players felt if they make the odd phone call to elders if would qualify them to continue to pick up there salaries of thousands a week.
Possibly why the phone calls stopped being made, as quick as they started.

Here is the players thinking - We''ve spent the last 3 months of the season doing nothing so what has changed now ?
it feels impossible to like Evans or the players. But i've got more sympathy with tax exile Evans on this and that feels dirty and wrong.
Where is the PFA?

Your comments make no sense at all. Please explain to some as dim as me how you came to that conclusion?

Some of the comments on here are just plain dumb....clearly some people that post on here have no sense of business operations.......point in fact from r2d2 - If you had backed the club in the 1st place we would not be a 1st league blah blah blah.......that makes no sense at all, no matter which league you are in your are feeling the effect of the business closure.....no matter which division you have No Income and Out-going expenses, the higher the league the bigger the expense vs income..... the same for IpswichBusiness.....Evans financial affairs and status as a collective group of companies has no bearing on the ITFC....and most of his listed income are assets not cash, so again no income, no cash to support expenses

It is all simple economics, but as he has the tag "billionaire" you all think this means cash in a bank account, that is not true, the vast majority of any billionaires portfolio are assets or shares in other companies, property etc. You don't become a billionaire by saving in your piggy bank.

AndyUK, I think that you should read my post again. At no point did I suggest that Mr Evans has his money (estimated at £700 million) in cash. What I said was that he is far richer than all the players put together. Would you really make an interest-free, unsecured loan to a heavily indebted loss making subsidiary that existed only on the goodwill of the patron? I certainly would not.

Bluearmy81, I wish I had all the inside info you have. I too would then be able to state "facts"!

So many apologists for Evans, so called 'fans' on here (fanatics suggests passion and pride 😂) seem to have unlimited patience and understanding. Jolly decent of you all. Meanwhile in 13 years Evans has turned ITFC into a joke club, a laughing stock. Keep understanding as we drift towards non league though. Fans?! You're having a laugh.

Thanks again Bluearmy_81 for your opinion on Ipswich supporters, once again you criticise them, insult them when all you have been asked is to substantiate your assertion of where you have got your facts from.
Come on Bluearmy_81 just for once try and answer the question put to you about your comments.
