Sir Bobby Robson Stand Roof Cleaning Under Way
Tuesday, 28th Apr 2020 13:16

The long-awaited cleaning of the roof of the Sir Bobby Robson Stand is taking place this week.

Fans have been critical of the state of the back of the roof of the stand, which was rebuilt during 2001/02, for the last few seasons.

The work, which we understand is costing the club a mid-four figure sum, will be done over two days using a cherry picker and requires roads around the ground to be closed.

Initially the cleaning was set to take place in November but was postponed due to reasons outside the club’s control.

About time too, it;'s looked a mess for far too long.

Hopefully it won't be filthy again by the time we get to watch live football again.....

One man with a bucket of water , a J cloth and a bottle of fairy liquid no doubt.

Absolutely disgraceful how they let it get to that state in the first place, charging people £30 a game to enter a stand with a roof as filthy as a 20year old garden shed !

And it's raining Evans could have saved his money

Yes, should have been done some time ago. That said, anyone who has ever had dealings with local governments and Highways authorities will know how many hoops have to be jumped through. Road closures, HSE etc, it's like banging your head against a brick wall!

Maybe it's just me but I've never had any expectations as to the cleanliness of the roof of anywhere I've ever gone.

The thing is Gilesy its an example of the attitude of the owner toward the club - not really caring about it and wanting to get away with as little expenditure as possible.

Is this really that important to report a roof being cleaned.

Yet again Marcus Evans getting stick for doing something decent for the club. Agreed, this has needed to be done for some time and it probably is a year or two too late but it's still an example of ME spending and putting money into the club, when most owners are haemorrhaging money

Does it really matter that the roof is a bit dirty ? Do we take the moss of of our houses ? It's a football stadium not a car showroom. Too many people looking to find fault.

Bert - Here here. Some simply get a kick out of criticising. Think we'd all do ourselves a lot of favours by finding ways to poke holes at other clubs, venting frustration elsewhere and finding some positivity in some of these stories. Lot to be negative about in the world at the moment. Let's try and keep TWTD a little more upbeat.

this is just a load of pigeon sh#t , there isnt much else to report at the moment , apart from the farce about how to end the season.

The whole ground and staircases have been in need of a good scrub, now is the time to do it? Even Town fans might be prepared to use their spare time to help?

Hopefully they move into the ground next.
I come home from games with more dirt and grime than spending all day at work on a building site.

Wow ITFC, you must be a messy eater, maybe get a napkin next time.

It's not a messy eater Skip...but when I eat in the ground and lean on something.
Normally end up with black marks etc. Just grubby surroundings all round.
If you can enter the ground and leave without touching anything, it would be ok.
As you would know Skip if you have ever been to a game...

Is the honeysuckle still growing nicely on the roof of the churchmans?
I think it's lovely that the club are doing their bit for nature with a rooftop garden.
