No Firm Outcome From League One Meeting
Friday, 15th May 2020 13:18

League One clubs are set to meet again next week after no firm outcome on the future of the 2019/20 was reached at this morning’s conference call.

The clubs are split into two factions, a majority of sides who want the season cut short and settled by one of a number of proposed methods, and an increasingly vocal six, including the Blues, who still want the campaign played to its completion if it is possible.

Therefore, it's probably not entirely surprising that a decision wasn't reached at today's two-and-a-quarter-hour meeting.

The 23 clubs will now meet again next week to discuss the matter further.

Meanwhile, League Two clubs have agreed to cancel the rest of their 2019/20 campaign with the table set to be decided via an unweighted points-per-game system but with play-off semi-finals and final taking place. An indicative vote is understood to have been unanimous.

The top three - Swindon Town, Crewe Alexandra and Plymouth Argyle - would be promoted to League One plus the winner of the play-offs but no one will be relegated to the National League. The decision will require formal ratification by the EFL board.

Until the leagues above make a decision, I really can't see how L1 can.

Aren't these guys supposed to be business men? Ffs make a decision even if it turns out to be the wrong one. The boat is sinking, either turn back or launch the lifeboats.

In fairness it's hard to just 'make a decision' without a consensus. Yes they are businessmen who want best for their business and different options are better for different businesses. If the League shut it down now they will have 6 teams sue them.

The only reason we want to play the season out is because we made such a balls up of the last 5 months that there is no possible end the season early solution that would see us in the mix. Our only (minor) hope is that the league resumes, we get our finger out big style and beat some p1ss poor teams at home (which we have failed to do on a regular basis) ,other results go our way and we squeeze into the play offs where we would then have to beat 2 promotion rivals (again which we have consistently failed to do all season) to win promotion.

In other words theres more chance of me sprouting tits and winning Miss World .....

Haven't we had enough turmoil this last few weeks? Let's not add to it by having to watch Ipswich play.

Its easy. Scrap the season and start again when we can. Simple enough.

I think it's pretty clear the decision will be to promote the top two and hold playoff semis and the final to determine the 3rd promotion place. The rest of the league will be frozen as is.

That will neutralise enough of the vocal minority about playing the remaining fixtures.

It's pretty rubbish for Town, but we couldn't have made a bigger mess of the season than we did. Just a shame that we will be losing our best players, again, to have another go next season, weaker than before and continuing on the downward Marcus Evans spiral.

Ho hum.

If 40 odd clubs in L1 and L2, can't afford to play 8 or 9 games behind closed doors.
How will they manage 40 plus games to complete next season.

Indeed NorthLondon. Without change at the top (which can happen if fans have the balls and motivation to stand up for their club,) we will be division 4 within 3 years. You have been warned...

North London that's why Fleetwood are part of the six...and looking to sue.
Looking at the league table you'd hardly blame them.

Since there is no agreement yet, we are still in with a chance of pulling off the shock of the season....the doom and gloom merchants are throwing in the towel too easily. Thank Evans too, seems he cares more about the club than many thought.

Bluearmy_81 as you say that is unlikely to happen because us Suffolk people are shameful, gutless throwbacks to feudal times and are no better than serfs.
Lets face it even the chap that started the ridiculous churlish "Evans out of ITFC" facebook page has done nothing in over a year and he didn't even have the bottle to turn up when a demonstration had been arranged.
Ring any bells?
