Ex-Blues Keeper Bialkowski Wins Championship Golden Glove
Thursday, 23rd Jul 2020 10:53

Former Town keeper Bartosz Bialkowski carried off the Championship Golden Glove in his first season with new club Millwall.

The Polish international kept 16 Championship clean sheets as the South Londoners finished an impressive eighth.

Bialkowski, 33, joined the Lions from the Blues on loan last summer after a permanent £900,000 switch had broken down due to concerns regarding the keeper’s knee which emerged during his medical.

The deal was eventually made full-time in January for a fee understood to be lower than the one previously agreed with an initial sum payable to the Blues plus further cash over the duration of his contract and add-ons related to appearances and performance.

During his time with the Blues Bialkowski was the club’s Player of the Year for three successive seasons.

Good on him. Let bygones be bygones. He was a great servant when he was here, and now he's showing his class again. Football careers are short, and he's doing well in a club who are punching above their weight - mainly due to him.

Another quite pathetic and totally irrelevant award. Perhaps its down to the back four in from of him !! Before long there'll be a knighthood for the most 'assists'. God help this sport.

I'm hoping this might suggest some sort of performances related clause may be triggered.

Pleased for him, Top Keeper. Such a shame Hurst took wrecking ball to his confidence

Pleased for him but I still have a bitter taste in my mouth as to how they went about signing him (bad knee my ar*e) and the fee that we received.

Good man ,always was ; just the twin evils of Hurst and Doidge who affected him and his confidence disastrously ! They did the same for our Club so as I've absolutely no sympathy for their predicament ,I've every respect for BB's return to form ,and know how much he is valued at Millwall .

Chepstowblue that's an unbelievably angry reaction to a perfectly reasonable award. Perfectly reasonable to have this as well as a golden boot (you can make the same argument that could be the service for golden boot). It's just a nice award.

For what it's worth i would completely support an award for most assists across EFL. That makes total sense to me.

Top man. Happy for him. We have a very decent replacement in Holy.

Well done Bart loved this guy was a brilliant keeper for us.
Great bit of business Evans sold on for nearly half of what was offered 4 months previous and before anyone says anything yes he had a niggle but proved up to December this wasn't an issue but low and behold we take 500 grand 4 months later in desperation. Do the Evans supporters really wonder why our debt gets bigger when this happens! 🙄

Ok BBP as stated before I'm not an ME supporter I'm an ITFC supporter and I'm not sure I quite follow what you have said.
Firstly the offer Millwall made of a reported £1mil was withdrawn due to the knee issue, so a loan deal was arranged with Millwall allegedly paying the full wages, and as far as I heard no other offers came in.
In January a fee reportedly of around £500k was paid which means that had ITFC not have accepted the loan or the fee the business debt would have risen by about £1mil.

Just shows the disastrous nature of P. Hurst 2018 sales of proven Championship and now Premiership players and purchase of lower league replacements .
Why was this allowed to happen ? Seems no way out of this trap now , we just dont have the pulling power , the appointment of Hurst perhaps the biggest disaster in Towns history.

Ok Rabbit so ‘allegedly' is not a certainty is it or am I misunderstanding your pretentious writings again? As far as it was reported in papers we were both paying his wages until January. Explain to me how he's valued at 1 million before the season has a successful 4 months winning man of the match on 3 occasions proving he is frill fit and nothing to worry about but then goes for 500,000 and you think that's good business? You don't buy and try something at full price and then once shown it's a good item accept half that price agreed beforehand. Christ hope you don't have your own business

Rabbit maybe you also condone the sale of Webster for 5 million when a season later he goes for 25? Poor business dealing from an extremely successful businessman. We show our hand and have done since Evans came in every club gives us derisory offers knowing we'll probably take it. Bristol city and Brentford's don't that why they can spend money from good money bought in

BBP as a businessman, I am simply stating the obvious, if the deal had not been accepted the ITFC debt would have increased, or maybe the deal for KVY might not have gone through.
I use the word allegedly because we simply don't know the precise figures, nothing pretentious or contentious.

Congratulations to Bart. Think we would have had a better season had he been our keeper. Norris made some absolutely dreadful errors that cost us, and, whilst Holy is a a decent GK, he's nowhere near the level of Bart. Yet again another Evans masterclass in how to get outmanoeuvred in the transfer market and ultimately screwed over.

Even a nice story like this is undermined by the fighting on this board - well done!

Congratulations Bart.

Strange comment Chepstow . You can say the top scorer only gets it cos his midfielders are good too.
Well done Bart .
Great keeper and top bloke
