EFL and Sky to Allow Clubs to Stream Games
Saturday, 22nd Aug 2020 14:15

The EFL and Sky Sports are reported to have agreed a deal which will allow clubs in the Championship and Leagues One and Two to stream all their matches via their websites during the season ahead.

According to the Daily Mail, despite Sky Sports paying £119 million for rights to the three EFL divisions as well as the Carabao Cup they are sympathetic to the struggles that clubs are going through due to the pandemic and will let them stream all games - including those that kick off at 3pm on Saturdays - until the Government permits attendances of more than 50 per cent of a stadium’s capacity.

It’s anticipated that casual supporters will have to pay around £10 per game with season ticket holders able to watch for free.

Clubs in the Championship will keep the cash they raise from the streamed games, but it’s said there will be a revenue-sharing arrangement in Leagues One and Two due to the varying fanbases.

As things stand, it’s hoped that around 25 to 30 per cent of fans will be permitted to attend games from October 1st, although it’s likely the figure may be lower than that initially.

Portman Road has a capacity of just under 30,000 these days with the club having just shy of 9,000 season ticket holders.

From 12,000 STH to 9,000. How different could it have been if ME trusted McCarthy in January '15

Yes ntoms97 we would be down to about 500
Why don't you understand that many would be reluctant to renew until attendance can be confirmed , not everyone has the means to put money into something that they then don't get back and have to seek entertainment elsewhere
If you love MM that much go support the club he is manager of ....oh hang on !!

Obviously would rather go in person but until a vaccine comes, that is not an option for me. At least can see the matches now, and the season ticket cost covers it, so it's a good decision for me.

So will season ticket holders get free iFollow passes to all matches, home and away, in place of home stadium tickets? I would be happy with that, but then I am the only season ticket holder in my household.

ntoms, I understand what your saying, if Evans had backed MM in 2015 we would've had a good chance of Premier League football and would not be in League 1 now due to parachute payments. Some people will never see it that way of course.

Your decision. I want my life back and I have lots of health problems and am sick of being inside the house 90% of the time.

If MM has kept on playing Johnny Parr at right back as he did to get us to that position in January 15 then we might have got to the premiership. But our best right back Chambers inexplicably came back in and in went down hill.

You may disagree with my sentence above as it cannot be proven. But neither can your post.

Debsy, I agree 100%. My Mum was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour in June and I've only seen her twice for 30 mins since. The quicker a vaccine comes along the better.

For those who will likely face death if they catch COVID it is important to get a vaccine.

I assume you're not in that position and that's lucky for you. But it doesn't make those that want it crazy.

As soon as a vaccine is available, the quicker the care homes and other places can reopen and people can see their loved ones agian.

Sorry to hear about your Mum, Skip73. I so hope this vaccine comes soon so you can spend some quality time with her.

You obviously don't want to get a vaccine , and that's fine, but guess what it's also fine for those who do want to get it to do so .... neither you or they are crazy

Rather than feeling the need to put your opinion about howabout this for a view point to adopt....

you do you and I won't judge, and I'll do me with no need for you to judge
