Young Quintet Left Out of Photo Call
Friday, 28th Aug 2020 10:58

Youngsters Idris El Mizouni, Armando Dobra, Brett McGavin, Corrie Ndaba and Aaron Drinan were left out of the first-team photo call held at Portman Road yesterday afternoon.

We understand the quintet were told at the training ground earlier in the day that they wouldn’t be included in the group shots or have individual photos taken.

Of the five, only Dobra, 19, and El Mizouni, 19, were given squad numbers when they were released earlier in the summer, while Drinan, 22, and McGavin, 20, started pre-season training with the senior players and have featured throughout the first-team friendlies so far.

Ndaba, 20, the only one of the five not to have made a competitive first-team appearance up to now, has impressed with his displays during pre-season.

The five are set to be the U23s squad for tonight’s friendly against Norwich and we understand some or all of them will also make the trip with the first team for Saturday’s final pre-season game at Cambridge.

Twenty-four players were included in the annual photo call, which due to coronavirus restrictions didn’t include the regular group shot with the players forming the letters NHS in the centre circle instead in tribute to health service workers.

Lambert really isn't changing those doubters' views, is he? Terrible man management and in my opinion... a terrible manager. He's been in charge for almost 2 years now and really hasn't done much apart from give a few fans a free pint!

What is going on? These lads could be the future of the club.

FA guidance is groups of no more than 30 which includes coaches.
Can 6 what appears to be 6 coaches in the photo, plus 24 players mentioned = 30.
That's the only reason I can see other than bad man management

It's not big and it's not clever.

So not part of first team group photos or individual photos. Considered not part of 24 . Dobra? Really? Hope he comes out and explains why. And Drinan, two goals and told "He's really impressed me, given me something to think about etc etc". Changed his mind bloody quick!

Just spiteful, I'm sure Lambo thinks this will be motivational but its not.

1. Having played them and said they did well this completely undermines that.

2. Having said Drinnan had given him good for thought, how does this now look to the lad.

3. Paul Hurst pulled similar shiz and we got relegated

4. To do it on the morning of the shoot is just rude.

5. These lads will be thinking they have no hope of cracking the 1st team this year now so why should they even bother.... instruct the agent to look for a new club

6. Dobra is already subject to PL interest,.shall we just push him out of the door.

7. Dobra and El MIzouni have both been highlights in a forgettable pre seaaon.

8. LAMBERT OUT. Absolutely joke of man management....

Is he trying to get the sack?

Get rid, Tommy Wright in plz.

This is not good. Our squad is too big and needs trimming. However, our young players have shown they are as good, if not better, than their senior colleagues. The problem is, no one wants to sign our senior players. No one wants to loan them on the wages they're on. The only way we can trim the squad is by loaning out our young talents. However I think this is going to come back to haunt us... Dobra, El Mizouni, Drinan and Ndaba have shown they deserve to be involved in the first team this season.

This is bizarre; Dobra, at the very least, has to be a regular in the first team squad for the season ahead. Meanwhile El Mizouni & Drinnan have both been bigged up by Lambert as being in his thought, while Ndaba is finally looking like he's ready to break into the side, he's left footed & our centre halves have not had a good pre-season. McGavin is a tidy looking footballer, but at least with him it's understandable given the sheer number of midfielders ahead of him.

Anyone with Twitter get on it #LAMBERTout @itfc.... let voices be heard. This can't continue.... I'm normally one for giving managers time but its too much esp after pre season and the Woolfie comment.

Its like he is trying to drive our young players out of the club. Delia must be slipping him a few quid.

This sounds preety bad, hope it's just because of the rules of number of people allowed in.

Also, I notice Norwood turned up without his boots.....

Shocking, just shocking.
If he needed to get the number down there are enough under performing "senior" players to choose, not those who are our future.
I despair.

Unnecessary negativity given that nobody on here knows the full story and reasons behind this. Another long stick to beat Lambert with though which is all most are after

The same old scene from the inept owner/management structure at PR.

Have those with the power to hire and fire learnt nothing from our recent history?

If we don't nurture and keep the promising talent emerging from the youth teams, what hope is there? Getting rid of our up and coming talent and replacing them with journeymen has-beens and never-weres (or not replacing them at all in a lot of cases) is counter productive.

When will this nightmare end?

Give the kids a chance, throw them in to competitive action in the league and see how they blossom... they can't be any worse than those underperformers in the senior squad!

Wtf!? 🙄 why even bother playing any of them pre season to then do this!? The three youngsters who came through the youth team especially more so seeing as part of the 5 point plan is getting these kids through and in the first team? I just give up with this club season ticket holder for over 30 years and I've never been so annoyed, depressed or downright angry with the owner and manger more than I am now. Why give a guy a 5 year deal in the first place who isn't progressing the team and isn't going to implement the renewed 5 point plan anyway it just all beggars belief at Ipswich now. Please anyone who supports lambert or Evans please tell me how you can still support either.

Dobra and El Mizouni has impressed me when I have seen them, knocking on the door to the first team. A bit strange this one.

BeattiesBackPocket added 11:45 - Aug 28
From what I've seen of Dobra and El Mizouni both have talent and need a chance to show it Can they seriously be any worse than what we saw last season?!? No

essextractorboy93 added 11:46 - Aug 28
Not really a surprise to be honest. Think they will all go out on loan for the season or at least a few months of it. McGavin and El Mizouni play in a position where we already have Downes, Dozzell, Bishop, Huws, Nolan and Judge so they're not really going to play many minutes. Drinan is behind Norwood, Jackson, Sears and Hawkins and didn't really impress for Sutton in non league last season. Ndaba played 45 mins at National League south level last year and is not ready to play at this level and could do with a loan. Wouldn't read a huge amount into a squad photo but these players will go out on loan I'm pretty sure.

KernewekBlue this has been my point many times past year or two how can people believe the spin of 5 point plans etc when it's not being implemented and cannot whilst we are a cat 2 academy anyway the very talented kids are sold before even reaching the under 21's and then this! But people will still support the owner and management of the club on here because Evans will apologise and make a new plan and they get sucked into it. This just proves the 5 point plan is utter b@@l@cks

I am becoming increasing underwhelmed by the way the club is being run, young talent farmed out to allow the tried and tested failures to persist. As long as lambert, chambers and Skuse continue we won't achieve sweet f.a. Best part of the last two seasons have been nothing short of woeful and yet these chumps continue to mascarade around like the pre-Madonna's they ain't.

BeattiesBackPocket added 11:55 - Aug 28
Essextractorboy how do you know they're no better than the midfielders you've just picked? I don't mind being down voted but where is your extensive knowledge coming from compared to others on here? We were abysmal last season especially in midfield you say judge he had two decent games last year and the others Dozzell has faltered to deceive where and why should he be ahead? The only consistent quality in those players you said last season was Downes. You can't go on names or past history like Huws who undoubtedly is on paper the best midfielder we have I'll agree but he hasn't provoked in in any of the 3 years he's been with us and to not even have these lads anywhere near the team this season after praising them then if you're happy with that you'll be happy with anything
1

BeattiesBackPocket added 11:56 - Aug 28
Essextractorboy you don't rathe Dobra ahead of those players you spoke about funny how a decent footballing manager at Brighton rated him enough to try buy him
5

essextractorboy93 added 12:02 - Aug 28
Dobra is the only one I'd possibly not loan out this season but the others will go out on loan I reckon. Just don't think they're ready to be thrown into league games. We could keep them here but they'll only play EFL trophy games and an occasional sub appearance. Think most fans would be happy with Downes, Dozzell and Bishop as a three in the midfield with Huws, Judge and Skuse as backup and some experience. Everyone can have their opinion but I think our midfield three is exciting and the like of McGavin and El Mizouni would benefit from playing regular games at League 2 level.

Knew he'd do this, get Del Boy in to manage us after all 'Who dares wins'.

If I were a youngster at the club I'd leave, what's the point, friendlies and cup games. You have no balls Lambert.
