Nsiala in Team of the Week
Monday, 28th Sep 2020 12:46

Centre-half Toto Nsiala has been named in the Sky Bet League One Team of the Week for his performance in Saturday’s 2-0 home victory over Rochdale.

It’s the third week running that the Blues have been represented in the divisional select XI with Teddy Bishop having been included a fortnight ago and Jon Nolan last week along with manager Paul Lambert.

Also in this week’s XI is ex-Town loanee Dominic Samuel, who scored twice on his Gillingham debut as the Kent side beat Blackpool 2-0 at the Priestfield Stadium.

Very pleased for him he's been to hell and back since signing, and now with some confidence restored is starting to look like the player that big things were expected of when he signed the more he plays the better he will become, as for those of you siting his mistakes then take a look at who is beside his right shoulder(although doing ok at the moment the skipper keeps going awol and toto has to cover right back as well!!) so give toto a bit of licence while gaining his confidence.

Of course he's got a mistake in him!
Show me someone who hasn't?
He has showed passion and commitment which we have lacked in recent seasons I'm afraid
Him and Wilson are no nonsense stoppers
That's no offence to either of them but their job is to stop the opposition scoring
That's not good enough for some on here
In my opinion for what it's worth that gives the midfield and forwards confidence to play and get forward without the fear that the back door is never closed
We haven"t had 2 defensive midfielders at all times like we used to(and still leaked goals a plenty)
Still early days but the 3 games so far have been encouraging
Well done Toto
Keep it going

Whilst I appriciate his improvement did they actually watch the game, his passing was disastrous most of his good work was making up for his own errors and his positional play poor. All heart and brave but quickly replaced by better players when fit.
Dozzel,Bishop,Nolan,Ward and Chambers all had much better games.

Terry Butcher had his moments too at the beginning of his tenure in defence but look how he improved with a manager who stuck with him. Well done Toto and keep improving especially with your distribution. Confidence comes with playing with good players beside you. You don't learn on the bench.

Right, I don't really care if I have been voted down as much for my original post on here, how on Earth can Toto be in the team of the week when just about every decent chance Rochdale created was as a result of the awful passing out of the back from Toto. Yes, he is a nice bloke and is improving on last season, but let's be frank here, his distribution was awful and I mean awful. Almost cringe worthy and everytime he was given the ball at the back i hid my head behind my hands expecting the worse.

Who picks this team, how Bishop didn't get in it god only knows...

Good to have another player in team of the week. Toto has certainly shown improvement from last season. His distribution needs a lot more work and he occasionally allows his marker to drift away from him.....but he has made some vital last ditch tackles, been imperious in the air and doesnt allow the opposition to turn when they receive it from a throw in(a pet hate).

Would still prefer him there than Chambers. He at least wins headers and puts in a tackle, his distribution is a bit poor but Chambers often just hoofs it down the field for opposition keepers to catch or centre backs to head back to our half. OK Toto isn't,t the finished article but we are keeping clean sheets, winning games and top of the league so let,s give our players some credit and trust our coaches to work with them and iron out the mistakes. We are playing well, unlike last season when we were winning and top but not playing that well, and the players are getting used to a new system of play as well so let's be patient, so far so good! Also it,s good to have a natural leader in defence, its creeping rewards.
