Crawley Linked With Dobra Loan Move
Sunday, 11th Oct 2020 11:30

Crawley Town are reportedly keen on signing Blues youngster Armando Dobra on loan.

Town boss Paul Lambert has repeatedly said that he wants the 19-year-old to go out on loan to gain first-team experience and, according to The Sun on Sunday, the Red Devils, 11th in League Two, are interested.

“He’s another kid that needs constant first team football and in an environment where he can get away from U23 football where there’s no really pressure on you,” Lambert said regarding Dobra last month.

"Those kids have to play with pressure, we need to get them out playing men’s football and learning the hard way is important for them.”

Albanian U21 international Dobra, who is contracted to the Blues until the summer of 2023 with an option for a further season, has made three senior starts and four sub appearances for Town.

The London-born forward has scored two first-team goals, most recently the edge-of-the-box strike which opened the scoring in Tuesday’s 2-0 home victory over Gillingham in the EFL Trophy in which Crawley are coincidentally the Blues’ next opponents, at the Broadfield Stadium on Tuesday 10th November.

If we aren't going to play Dobra, this would be a great move for him. Regular and competitive L2 football, it's exactly what he needs right now.

Yes just what he needs and not too far away. Playing u23 football is not going to improve him at all. It didn't do Downes and Wolfenden any harm they came back better players.

Just get a call back facility . Our injury record is atrocious and we might end up needing him . But if he is to go out on loan for the season I'd hope this would mean an increased probability that he'll be in the first team squad next season , whatever division we are 8n or we'll end up losing him to another Club who will take the chance with him in their team.

Not sure there is a "call back" on loans anymore - might be found wrong tho.

My issue would be if we have a number out on loan and we have injuries and positive Covid tests, we might not be able to field a decent team

on the other hand, 8 games in a first team over the next 10 weeks would help him

No callback before 1st Jan but that's not that far away. 12 weeks of men's football will do him good.

We can't go forward in total caution ,some calculated risk must be taken ; and the positives for AD growing and maximising on potential should tip the balance in favour of a loan out !
Go for it ITFC ,and enjoy AD !

Can we send him after the EFLT game, which he is otherwise likely to star in?

Getting league football would be great for him. As long as we have a short notice callback if we need him, or they don't play him, I think it's a winner for everyone.

He should be in first team squad, not going out on loan. We need him here as the injury situation is crazy here.

Freddies ears.He wouldnt be able to play against us in the efl cup. For 1, hes on loan to them from us. And 2, hes cup tied anyway, as hes already played for us in the competition.

Paris Blue. Recall depends on how long the loan is. If it's a season long loan then as u say, the recall would be in January. If a months loan wed have a 24 hour recall on him.
