Jackson: I'm Feeling a Lot Better
Tuesday, 20th Oct 2020 12:01

Striker Kayden Jackson says he’s feeling a lot better having tested positive for Covid-19 over the weekend.

The 26-year-old called in sick on Friday showing symptoms and took a test which came back positive. The rest of the squad underwent tests as a precaution all of which came back negative last night, the club confirmed this morning.

“Unfortunately I have been tested positive for coronavirus,” Jackson said in a tweet. “I am feeling a lot better, and I am self-isolating in line with the government guidelines.

“Will be supporting the boys from home and hope to be back on the pitch very soon! Thanks for all the messages!”

Jackson is required to self-isolate for at least 10 days but physio Matt Byard said he anticipates that that period will to stretch to a fortnight.

As a result, the former Accrington man will definitely miss tonight’s game at Doncaster, Saturday’s trip to Lincoln, next Tuesday’s home game against Gillingham and almost certainly Crewe Alexandra’s visit to Portman Road on Saturday 31st October and the away game at Sunderland on Tuesday 3rd November.

League One and Two clubs should be allowed emergency loans for when a player gets Covid, with the financial back of the EFL. This leaves us very thin on the ground in attacking areas, but for smaller clubs a similar situation could leave them with literally no one.

ThatMuhrenCross - clubs can ask for a postponement if they are really badly affected by Covid. One player out for two weeks is no worse than a minor injury, it's just bad luck that several more of our strikers are injured at the same time.

If you don't mix you don't get it, aren't they supposed to be "professional"

Ridiculous comment Roy.
Covid has long tentacles.

Don't go there. Any reason to avoid testing is a serious problem waiting to happen. No blaming.

TractorRoy. Ignorance about Covid is a bigger issue sir. Look at the morons attending Trump rallies or people in this country ignoring the guidelines. It's highly unlikely Jackson has gone out of his way to get this but the odds are someone he's come in contact with have ignored it.

Missing 6 games, including Accrington, is a huge consequence for a player who had just come back into the team after injury and also a serious consequence for a squad with no other senior striker available at the moment.
We can just be thankful that Kayden did the right thing by staying off when he wasn't feeling good & got tested. Who knows how many others might have gotten it had he come in on Friday.

Monkey Blue, people get Covid from going to the supermarket. It isn't a mark of shame or proof of sin. People go to Trump rallies and also black lives matter protests, it's not a partisan issue. Some people just consider those things an exercise of their democratic rights. Who are you to cast the first stone?

We don't need emergency loans, just let the academy players have their chance.
