Town boss Paul Lambert will serve a one-game touchline ban following his red card for his post-match protestations at Lincoln when Gillingham visit Portman Road this evening and has been fined £1,000, while the Blues and Imps have been charged by the FA in relation to the melee following Jon Nolan’s dismissal.

Lambert was sent off after the final whistle having led Town remonstrations with referee Kevin Johnson, whose award of a controversial 77th-minute penalty proved to be the pivotal moment at Sincil Bank.

The Scot, 51, accepted an FA charge of improper conduct and as a result was handed the ban, which will see him watch this evening's match from the directors' box, and fine.

Following Nolan’s sending off for an injury time lunge on Harry Anderson, for which the midfielder will serve a three-match suspension, there was a brief confrontation between the two teams which led to bookings for Teddy Bishop and one-time Town loanee Tayo Edun.

The two clubs have been charged with failing to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and have until Thursday of this week to provide a statement in their defence.

Bluearmy71 added 14:19 - Oct 27 I'd rather a manager be passionate and show his frustration at an inept referee at times than say nothing! If you ask me the one match ban and £1,000 fine are more a reflection of the ref's governing body seeing that PL actual had a fair case against this ref and probably agreed with PL for the most part but had to show that its still against the rules to approach a match official and therefore gave him a minimal charge!

Cloddyseedbed added 14:23 - Oct 27 Lambert was totally out of order doing what he did and he has let the club down with that behaviour and his coming out in support of Nolan after his diabolical tackle. This is not what ITFC should be seen as, an out of control player and manager. Sort yourselves out, you have both let the club down. Maybe the view from above Lambert will let you clearly see that we are not what you make us out to be in your interviews and you have a better view of what needs doing. Sorry but in all the time you have been here I have lost the faith. With the players we have we expect more. I don't see a lot of difference from last season, tactically inept and spineless.

herfie added 15:20 - Oct 27 Conduct unbecoming - but that's just on the pitch! Whatever the perceived injustices and total frustration, acting like a yob only makes a bad situation worse. Losing the plot with officials instantly removes any credible arguments that might exist, and brings the club into disrepute. Walk away - always the best decision.

terryf added 16:17 - Oct 27 Some are looking through rose tinted glasses on here. Lambert was out of order and how can he defend both Nsiala and Nolan? Both looked rash challenges to me and will ultimately cost us in the final countdown. As for us playing brilliant football. Is he having a laugh? Most of our brilliant football was played in our own half and sadly that does not put the ball in the opposition's net!! Why not try our the young centre-backs in the next 2 games. At least they are both comfortable playing out from the back.

I'm not happy as the manager doesn't seem to get the best out of the players, hasn't got a plan Band I think he's run out of idea's. The team is spineless. I want us to get out of this league but I can't see it happening with Lambert, not with tippy tappy football in our own half, no strikers and defenders who aren't comfortable on the ball expected to play out from the back. Bluearmy 71, nope I am not Norwich but my nephew is on their books and I admire how they run their club.

braveblue added 18:41 - Oct 27 Terryf you reckon Tori's challenge was easy and a penalty. Utter nonsense. You could see that challenge in every game and it was certainly no penalty. Their player moved into him then dived. If Chambers had made that challenge I doubt there would be the same view.
