Supporters Club: Seeming Stagnation of Our Club Must Not Be Allowed to Continue
Monday, 30th Nov 2020 12:27

The Ipswich Town Supporters Club has issued a statement outlining its frustrations regarding a number of issues, including what they view as the “seeming stagnation” of the Blues under Marcus Evans’s ownership, a lack of communication and the banning of TWTD’s Phil Ham from press conferences.

The statement reads: “We the Official Supporters Club of ITFC continue to have regular, balanced and reasoned discussions with the club on all football matters. We are encouraging the club to be more communicative with all supporters on a regular basis. Communication needs to improve.

“In our view now is not the time for further disruption, we need to see our club overcome the pandemic and get back to some semblance of normality. We are all frustrated by the recent performances and injuries and we all want our club to be in a better place.

“However, the seeming stagnation of our club must not be allowed to continue. Whilst grateful for the continued financial support from our owner Marcus Evans to enable security during this crisis, our record under his tenure is not one to be proud of.

“We all want to be promoted this season and we hope that the team can soon return to winning ways and that those with injuries recover soon.

“We as a group continue to meet via Zoom on a monthly basis and any input from any supporter is welcome at all times.

“This weekend we became aware of the situation regarding Phil Ham. Over the last 25 years TWTD has been one of the best, if not the best run fan websites/forums in the entire Football League. We politely suggest to Ipswich Town Football Club that his press privileges are reinstated forthwith.

“It has been a difficult nine months for everyone. Please continue to stay safe and well. I hope we can all enjoy in the limited way we are allowed to the forthcoming festive season and that our club return to winning ways as soon as possible.”

The Supporters Club’s website can be found here, while they are on Twitter at @itscofficial. Their email address is @itscofficial.

We have a wage bill that is sucking the life out of this club. Unfortunately , we have created a very comfortable footballers retirement home. Better manager, better players, better communication and a winners discipline at this club is crucially needed.

Far too reasoned and balanced - a gift to ME! Come on, if there's to be any glimmer of promotion, then PL and his coaching elves need to be on a fast sleigh out of here.

As for wishing to avoid unnecessary ‘disruption at this time', when is a good time? When we're looking up routes to Chipping Norton?

The clue's in the title ‘Official' supporters' club!

Stagnation is not a nice word being thrown round our club and something I want to be washed away ASAP and the way this will make a very big difference is for Paul Lambert and his team to be released of there duties forthwith.
A'm a very tolerant person something I've come to terms with over the past ten years watching my club slowly sinking into obscurity but just lately my frustration is getting the better of me over the stubbornness of the owner not sacking PL.Please Marcus if you want us to get promoted then you must see the wood from the trees before it is too late.

There should be no mention of gratitude towards Evans. No one made him buy the club and there were other potential suitors. He's been a massive, 13 year failure for ITFC, he's reduced us to a laughing stock

We need to be positive at the moment and I am POSITIVE that Lambert should be sacked now

Now we have such tight financial controls there should be a consortium ready to take the reigns from Marcus (should he keep his word and not seek to profit from our debt) as soon as possible after the supporters are back (10000 not 2000). We must have a set of real supporters to take us forward, even if it takes ten more years. I can't stand Marcus Evans' rotten money at our core any longer.

Martin587 & Bluespeed - absolutely spot on! Your comments say everything that needs to be said about the demise of our wonderful club.

Agree with most of the statement, particularly concerning Phil Ham. However, now is definitely the time for disruption with the immediate sacking of one of the worst ever ITFC managers - Paul Lambert. Failure to change manager will almost certainly result in us going further backwards. This once proud club is no more under Evans shocking ownership.

Phil Ham can not be blamed for the Towns situation, he has run the Ipswich Town fan site impecably, not the football team. He should be reinstated immediatly

Thers alot of panic going on in this forum. Dont forget our injury situation is serious, very bad. several of our leading players are out currently and some have been out for ages. A whole team is out injured. Basically an Under 23s midfield isnt going to cut it against most teams in our division. The manager must be so frustrated by it all. Yes results have been depressing recently but when those players are back they will pick up.

There is defending Lambert, he has been here 2 years, no signs of improvement on the pitch! If there were glimpses of things improving then maybe just maybe he should have more time, but there are no improvements and he needs to go asap!!!!

Lambert out!!!!

Stagnation implies we aren't going anywhere. If that were so, we'd still be midtable in the Championship League. This is our worst record in over 60 years. This is the opposite of stagnant. We are in a freefall.

Itsonlyme he didn't save us mate we had already come out of administration and challenging for the playoffs in the championship With a good squad as well albeit with a 30 million debt. Now the squads the poorest I've seen it finished our lowest in over 60 years and 100 million debt that's not saving us mate. And to the supporters club that's NOT stagnation either that's deterioration

I thought when PL arrived he may be the solution to the club. How wrong was I! In the first season he let us slip down a league which was a disastrous thing to happen. However the fans gave him the support he needed and he gave the club unity to get back up with some really promising results. Then followed disappointment. His graph is a consistent wave. Up down up down up and now down again, but ME will give him a little longer because I do believe he is loyal to his employees. I think it is a mistake or a weakness because can anyone of us supporters see signs of exciting results in the near future? NO! Patterns tend to repeat and this manager has multiple club patterns. Sorry Paul but our club has a magnificent history which is being lost under your tenure. The supporters backed you through good and bad periods but we can't keep doing it indefinitely. We demand a an upward curve from now on not a downward curve. Perhaps it is time to relax in Scotland for a wee while,; drink a few malts and enjoy Christmas and New Year. As a club we need an eagle to soar again not an old flightless canary.
