O'Neill: Lambert's Job is Safe
Tuesday, 1st Dec 2020 10:54

Town general manager of football operations Lee O’Neill says owner Marcus Evans has no plans to make a managerial change despite being aware of fans’ frustrations regarding performances and results under boss Paul Lambert.

The Blues have lost seven of their last 10 in all competitions and five of their last eight in League One, dropping to sixth in the table ahead of tonight's game at Oxford United as a result.

Speaking to BBC Radio Suffolk as part of a longer interview being broadcast at 6pm this evening, O’Neill said owner Evans is well aware of supporters' concerns.

“He understands their frustration, obviously I communicate with him,” he said.

“He can hear and see things and see what’s around him and even though the supporters aren’t at the stadium there are ways that they have voiced their opinions.

“He’s aware of that and fully supportive in trying to help the football club get back to the better times.”

Feel good story of the day, just what the fractured fanbase needs to hear from the club.

Of course it is :)

I really hope us town fans learn to accept we are becoming a bang average league one club that will
Not grow anytime soon. Hats off to anyone who continues they’re undeserved surpport.

And for the record, a number of town players last Xmas told me they despise Paul lambert. So don’t expect a sustained good period under his reign

Does anybody think we have a realistic chance of luring Eddie Howe to PR?

Itk92.... is that true? Tell more detail, or is it just a throw away comment?

Hopefully this is the classic Vote of Confidence which usually preempts a sack.

This makes the descision to give him such a long contract relatively recently into the spotlight. It really shows either ineptitude or a lack of interest in having to go through the tougher but potentially necessary process of hiring and hiring in order to maintain performance.

Sure we need stability but we need results which doesn’t encourage malaise.

I reckon x 2 more losses and Evans will act . We will be mid table by Xmas .

O’Neil is supposed to be the gatekeeper of overall achievement. It doesn’t seem he is willing to rock any boat if necessary. A stronger leader wouldn’t rule anything out and would also add that performances obviously must improve.

Having the manager solely responsible for results is a big mistake IMO.

"safe" - irrespective of performance ?

Evans just knows he himself is the real problem and a new manager will also struggle under him.

With an urgent need for vastly improved performances and results a priority, it’s inevitable that ME needs to keep PL onside and the players to remain motivated. He’s hardly likely, therefore, to announce publicly that PL’s position is under threat. That’s the official line......

But, if ME and his talking head really do mean it, then we’re doomed. Reality is that it’s a matter of time: but if we have any hope left for this season, then it probably needs to be done sooner rather than later. One thing’s certain, however - PL won’t be here in 4 years’ time. COYB!

The big problem is PL total lack of orchestrating a team that plays to its strengths, but he doesn’t seem to know what they are, so either our players are totally useless or he’s totally useless my opinion is he’s (PL) a clueless bull shi——r but what do I know

I cant believe Marcus Evan's is a success business man! His recruitment and management of football managers is diabolical, he should look at his record at town and see over a decade of demise never seen in the clubs history!

Don't spend a penny on the club, don't go to games, don't pay for I follow, don't buy shirts, merch or anything else.... let Lambert lead out to an empty stadium when others have fans return.

Keep this up until we have a change
