Blue Action Banner Urges Evans Action
Wednesday, 2nd Dec 2020 22:48

Town independent supporters group Blue Action has draped a banner on the perimeter fence at Portman Road bearing a message to owner Marcus Evans.

Last Wednesday evening Blue Action hung an earlier banner on the gates at Playford Road calling for manager Paul Lambert’s departure, “Lambo - Cheers for the beers but it’s time at the bar”, with Lambo amended to Shambo as well as a statement outlining their position

The club removed it prior to the players and staff arriving the following morning and were subsequently reported to have employed 24-hour security at the training ground as a result.

Blue Action’s latest banner aimed at the club owner reads: “Tick-tock Marcus, the future of the club is at stake.”

Early on in his time at Town, Lambert invited members of Blue Action along with other groups to the training ground to talk about improving the atmosphere at home matches.

Blue Action had been formed at the start of the 2018/19 season with that in mind via banners, stickers and the introduction of new songs and more recently have produced a fanzine.

Speaking about last week's banner, Lambert said: "I can’t control that, what I did do with the Blue Action guys, no problem, we wanted to know their views on what happened to the club and where it had gone. They even admitted themselves that the club had nose-dived and they’d lost enthusiasm for it."

Fans’ calls for a change of manager have increased in volume since last Tuesday’s 3-0 home defeat to leaders Hull City with fears that this season is turning into a repeat of 2019/20, in which Town started promisingly before fading into mid-table, growing. The Blues are currently fifth.

Relations between Lambert and the local media have also become increasingly strained since Saturday’s 2-0 loss to Charlton as news of the banning of TWTD’s Phil Ham from press conferences broke and was followed by other members of the media being accused of stoking and feeding negativity after last night’s 0-0 draw at Oxford.

Fans, who have been unable to attend matches so far this season, have made contact with the club via email and social media making their thoughts on the club's current position, the management and the rift with the media clear.

This is all heaping no end of extra pressure on our youngsters who have been blooded by PL because of all the injuries to experienced first teamers. It's no wonder results have suffered. Yes we lost badly to Hull but they will probably walk this division. We are still well in the hunt. We all need to show patience - results will pick up once we can field a full strength team.

so monkey, are you saying the "numbskulls" should learn from their "mistake" and not hound lambert out?

what's your wise way forward?

Perfectly worded banner if you ask me.
Not abusive or resorting to insults which always devalues the message.

Hey BrandestoneBlue this is still a fantastic club and any manager worth his salt would want to come here-----fantastic stadium and training ground and a huge fan potential if we can start playing decent football----look at last years average for a start.

Nice area to live and near to London and you can pop across to Europe for a break (in noermal times) with no fuss or bother.

No my friend this club is still great and I will always support it----we just need better leadership at all levels.

trouble is if evans did give lambert the tintack he would only give the job to somebody like pardew,[them that nobody else would have] etc. in the 12-13 years he has owned the club he hasnt made a good appointment yet.

You may not like it but Marcus Evans owns this club. When these fans contribute £6,000,000 towards the running of this club they can have a say.
Until then we have to suck it and see.

As far as I am concerned Blue Action speak for the majority of fans. We desperately need action on a lot of fronts but it would seem no one is listening or if they are are, appear content with what's happening both on a FPS off the pitch. Sad days indeed!

As Paul Lambert said " There is a long way to go in this season " True. But what is also true is that in 13 years of Marcus Evans we could of and should of built the backbone of a half decent squad.

Johnwarksshorts we had already come out of administration way before evans took over with a team challenging for play offs, a passionate ex player as manager who gave a sh!t about the clubs and the team consisted of the likes of Tommy Miller, Sito, Cornago, Wilnis, Legwinkski, De Vos and Naylor to mention a few albeit with a 30 million debt now look at the serious lack of quality team we didn't even challenge the playoffs in league one last year and won't this year as we cannot and have not beaten a team in the top 8 let alone top 6 and now with a 100 million debt! Where's that money been spent not on the team that's for sure. We have maybe 3 players who can play at a higher level maximum even with the full team we were labouring to results against teams near the bottom. Lowest position in over 60 years so remind me again how we have been better off under evans than we were before he came in?

Senduntd - 10,000 fans buying a season ticket at an average of £500 equates to £5 million pounds, EVERY YEAR!! Thats without any money spent on merch, hospitality etc. I would say that gives every fan the right to have their say !

Good to see people are finally waking up to the fact that Marcus Evans is the main problem with this club. However this is still too weak of a message. Fans need to male it clear: WE WANT EVANS OUT!

It will be a tough ask for any manager to operate under some of the restraints they would have to deal with. My thoughts are to recruit a young European manager with better contacts to pull some master strokes. Hopefully to recruit some quality that our talented players can be added to. The constant chopping and changing is not doing any favours.
It is possibly poor advice and poor judgement that this club has had good potential booted and very average players recruited either bought or on loan. On top of this, we retained some players who contribute very little. Maybe the wage bill could be used more wisely. It is going to take some brave decisions from Mr Evans to trim this squad and start again. That could mean another 5 year plan.

Bluearmy_81 what you have said to JWS is an out and out lie, if it is not then you have an extremely poor memory in which case it is unforgivable that you post something that you have not bothered to fact check.
You say that ITFC were out of administration and things were improving, to make the claim that things were improving on the financial side is a disgrace.
The facts: 2005: ITFC lost £3.2 mil. 2006: they lost £2.7 mil. and in 2007 would have lost a similar amount had it not received an exceptional sell on clause of £2.6 mil for Darren Bent.
David Sheepshanks at this stage could not even raise sufficient cash to pay Norwich Union the interest payments on the loan let alone any capital repayment, he is on record as admitting that without a buyer the Clubs position was unsustainable.
This is not a post in support of the owner or manager, but until the mis-information that posters such as you stop pedaling it is quite unreasonable to try and evaluate popular opinion.

Those amongst us that think the results will pick up once our players get fit are deluded, they've done nothing much of note and the reason for this is our totally inept manager...nothing is going to change until this muppet has been sacked.
Well done Blue Action.

Good work Blue Action! Evans has to act now otherwise if we continue this slump under Lambert it'll be too late to change our season. We must get promoted this season! The future of this once great club depends on it. If Evans gets it wrong, it will lead to protests!

How very true the message is. If Marcus calls in the debt, the future of the club is really at stake.

I don't think the majority of supporters agree with the "Lambert/Marcus Evans out calls".

Lambert is a proven manager with loads of experience (we should all know that at least) and ME is a benevolent owner who is not in it for the limelight and if its an investment he must have a very long term view to persist with it.

Happy for Blue Action to make their case and demonstrate/put up banners etc but I think the vast majority of fans want to see the club thrive BUT accept the reality of our situation in the modern era of football where huge sums of money are involved at the highest level.

It would be interesting to know how many fans are signed up to Blue Action. I expect somebody on here will tell me.

I love the club and like many have been supporting them zillions of years and enjoyed life under Robson. I seem to recall many supporters throwing their cushions onto the pitch, ripping up their season tickets and demanding his sacking. We always say we want nice football and want to see the youngsters come through the academy. Well its certainly happening now and to be fair that's what ME said a while back. The future is the academy so lets sit back and enjoy. At the end of the day it is just a hobby/sport for us fans so please don't get bent out of shape by any of it.

And please stop being so negative ALL the time. I rely on TWTD for my Town fix but I am sure lots are driven away by the constant negativity and that's not good for Phil or the future of this website.

Chestnut. Minty python stuff!! Stop being so negative?! No goals in 3 games in division 3. Repeating our trick of 0-1 chances on goal in a game in a season where we simply have to go up. If fans aren't allowed to be negative now I'd love to know how bad things would have to get in your mind!!

Whilst everyone entitled to their opinions, & all supporters wish we were in a better place, I agree
with your post, & supporters like myself who have ITFC in their DNA will continue their support through thick & currently somewhat thin!!!! COYB

Bluearmy_81 you owe the posters on this site an apology for your post on the first page of this thread, you have posted that after administration and before ME, finances were improving several times before, please be man enough to at least retract that statement.
To not do so will only incriminate, further, a great deal of the other posts you write.
The above does not relate to my feelings regarding the owner, the manager or the way the team are playing so please do not confuse the issue this time.
