Blue Action Banner Urges Evans Action
Wednesday, 2nd Dec 2020 22:48

Town independent supporters group Blue Action has draped a banner on the perimeter fence at Portman Road bearing a message to owner Marcus Evans.

Last Wednesday evening Blue Action hung an earlier banner on the gates at Playford Road calling for manager Paul Lambert’s departure, “Lambo - Cheers for the beers but it’s time at the bar”, with Lambo amended to Shambo as well as a statement outlining their position

The club removed it prior to the players and staff arriving the following morning and were subsequently reported to have employed 24-hour security at the training ground as a result.

Blue Action’s latest banner aimed at the club owner reads: “Tick-tock Marcus, the future of the club is at stake.”

Early on in his time at Town, Lambert invited members of Blue Action along with other groups to the training ground to talk about improving the atmosphere at home matches.

Blue Action had been formed at the start of the 2018/19 season with that in mind via banners, stickers and the introduction of new songs and more recently have produced a fanzine.

Speaking about last week's banner, Lambert said: "I can’t control that, what I did do with the Blue Action guys, no problem, we wanted to know their views on what happened to the club and where it had gone. They even admitted themselves that the club had nose-dived and they’d lost enthusiasm for it."

Fans’ calls for a change of manager have increased in volume since last Tuesday’s 3-0 home defeat to leaders Hull City with fears that this season is turning into a repeat of 2019/20, in which Town started promisingly before fading into mid-table, growing. The Blues are currently fifth.

Relations between Lambert and the local media have also become increasingly strained since Saturday’s 2-0 loss to Charlton as news of the banning of TWTD’s Phil Ham from press conferences broke and was followed by other members of the media being accused of stoking and feeding negativity after last night’s 0-0 draw at Oxford.

Fans, who have been unable to attend matches so far this season, have made contact with the club via email and social media making their thoughts on the club's current position, the management and the rift with the media clear.

Rabbit lets average out the losses over those years to say 2.5 million over 13 years since evans took over that should equate to 32.5 million max on top of our original 30 mill equals 62.5 million that's not including over 50 millions recouped in transfers out but let's forget the transfers out and leave it at 62.5 million where's the other 40 million spunk3d away then? Not on the team is it? So where? You talk about facts if he's putting in 6 million of his own money in but we were only averaging 2.5 million losses again his figures make no sense the squads worse than back then by a huge amount as well that's the problem he's not the messiah some point out he is. Yes he owns the club no one can make him sell as I've said before and I'm not even saying he should however he should no damn well what he's done to our club is take us down to our lowest point for over 60 years with our worst squad I can ever remember and I include the John Duncan era as at least we was in the second league then, what I've always said is the figures don't make sense and the squad is worse off so where's the spending gone? If it's down to the fact we were challenging near the playoffs those previous seasons then there's another point made that had he invested in the team we wouldn't be losing anywhere near as much money as we are now and that IS a fact!

BeattiesBackPocket what on earth has that got to do with subject of this article or anything that I have posted on it.
To answer your questions, I again refer you to the published accounts, what more can I say.
My point is ITFC were not in a stable nor improving situation at the time ME took over, the opposite is in fact true, to claim otherwise is both inaccurate and simply untrue and those that suggest it was financially improving are being disingenuous, especially to those younger supporters that were not around at the time.

ME bought the club through his company. While the club makes losses his company doesn't pay so much in taxes

This behaviour is so uncalled for and embarrassing. I also question TWTD for reporting this ridiculous news, however it's probably since their banning of why there seems a little
More venom. Sad! PL has tried to reunite the fans after Mick, which subsequently was again appalling behaviour by the some so called fans. What ever manager comes in, it will not be any different. The only way this club will move forward is if Marcus sells up, to a wealthier person who is willing to invest more than what Marcus does, but as he has said there is not a queue outside his office of that kind of buyer. The only thing we can do in the current situation is stick together, back each other and give everyone involved our 100% support, but I'm afraid there are too many uneducated fans for that.

That's correct - for every £1 Marcus puts in he is able to offset the loss against any profits his other group companies make. That means he save about 20p for every £1 he puts in. So the £8m odd he puts in every year only really costs him about £6.4m

If he had a few other investments that make that sort of return he would soon be bust!

Rabbit because this post is about Evans inadequacy as an owner and a banner erected because of this? I don't disagree with you no we weren't in a prime position as still 30 million in debt however the amount we've supposedly lost since Is ridiculous and does not work out surely the most important thing is the team improvement?? And nothing has been spent on improving that. As his now recent and laughable statement he's just sent out well if I wasn't convinced he didn't know what he was doing before I'm even more convinced now!
He see's improvement and progress do you? We ARE in relegation form and this started before all the injuries as well mate. He calls in improvement and progress yet the press and supporters clubs call in stagnation and decline. I still bought a season ticket this season as I have done for over 30 years but the football and team these past ten years is depressing even my nephew isn't interested any more. I remember not so long back during 98 and 2006/7 kids being in town shirts in town everyone enjoying going but the past ten years has sucked it out of even the most loyal and hats not the fans fault. He's also bemoaned ‘be careful what you wish for regarding managers and about the injury list' do you think he'll apologise when the injury list lessens and we still can't beat a top 8 side and have a manager with no plan B? Nope but it's still our fault as apparently watching on Ifollow which I've been doing isn't a true reflection of how we're playing!?? Come on the mans deluded

BeattiesBackPocket not in a "prime position", please let's get real.
The receiver was only held at bay because a newly appointed director put in a substantial loan so that Sheepshanks could get the ME deal over the line.
You have explained how you have done the accounts which seem to be the basis on which you formulate your opinions, which to be honest is back of fag packet stuff really So lets be patient and see actually what the real state of play is when you show us the details of a) ME claiming to put in £6mil. and b) the accounts from your shareholder friend proving it was only around £500k.
When do you think you will have this info?

Hold on did I say that was fact? I said we averaged in the years you spoke about at losses on average of 2.5 million so if you read English you will see that I never stated facts on that amount however am going off the years you mentioned. You revert to type every single time as other posters on here have noticed as soon as someone disagrees with you on evans being the saviour of ITFC. It's almost laughable if it wasn't so serious. Averaging it out loss wise over the rest of his tenure o didn't even take into account the money we recouped from player transfers. There's a lockdown and I'm a key worker rabbit I'll pop over to see him when I'm allowed for now how about FOR A CHANGE giving us an answer everyone keeps asking you. I've answered plenty of questions your turn or will you revert to type again:
1. Do you think he's done a good job taking into account his latest ridiculous statement or are the supporters club, EADT and Guardian wrong?
2. If you think he's done well for us how?
3. He said in his latest statement we've made progress can you let us all know in your expert obnoxious opinion how we have progressed?
4. How come if the previous years to evans our losses amount to approx 2.5 million a season are we better off now under evans and where has the 120 million over his 13 years been spent exactly. If you're having trouble with math that's the 30 original million from the 100 million debt now =70 million plus the money recouped in transfers of 50 million. Please as you're so damn sure of accounts where has that 120 million been spent? As I say the important part of any ambition needs to be in the team if you have a successful team fans will go and losses reduce??

Rabbit when you feel you can be bothered to answer those questions we can all gain an understanding as to why you think progress under evans has been made as a lot of us are curious however we're the ones showing you newspaper links, etc etc to prove different. You never know you may change our minds that is if you have any concrete evidence yourself to prove the progress

BeattiesBackPocket I have no idea why you are being so utterly offensive and for what it is worth I did not mention the word “fact” in relation to your post.
In respect to me being able to read English then I am sorry, but it is sometimes quite difficult to decipher your quite long rambling posts especially with little punctuation, sentences or paragraphs within them.
However basically all I read is the same questions that you asked originally back in May this year which I have answered in detail, frankly I have no idea what comfort it gives you for me to keep repeating it.
With regard to me showing proof; yet again I refer you to Companies House, this is the only evidence I have in relation to the ITFC financials and the only evidence I know of that is available.
This is all is a matter of public record and free to access. It is also the only evidence that I have claimed to have.
It does seem that you have unearthed some further evidence in relation to a claim that ME made one year, i.e. a) he claimed to have invested £6 mil. and b) you have from your friend, an ITFC shareholder, got proof that he only invested circa£500k. in that particular year.
You offered to provide the proof of his claim and the relevant document from the accounts, so fine, if it is a fact, let us see it and the sooner the better so we can move on.
