Dozzell Signs New Deal
Friday, 4th Dec 2020 22:12

Midfielder Andre Dozzell has signed a new deal with the Blues which runs to the summer of 2024.

The 21-year-old’s previous contract was up at the end of the season with Town having taken up a one-year option on the former England U20 international’s earlier terms in May.

Fellow youngsters Luke Woolfenden, Brett McGavin and Armando Dobra have also signed deals over the last few months with Flynn Downes and Jack Lankester previously having put pen to paper on long-term contracts.

“I’ve been here since I was a kid and have grown up with Woolfy and Flynn and it’s great that we are all playing in the first-team now,” Dozzell told iFollow Ipswich.

“The owner has made it clear how important it is for the future of the club that the young players get an opportunity here and that’s a big factor for me. I’m getting a good run in the team. I’m playing a lot of games and enjoying it.

“Obviously I’m delighted with the new contract and now I just want to help the team kick on and get the club promoted back to the Championship. That’s the number one aim for all of us this season.”
Dozzell misses tomorrow's game at Plymouth as he is suspended having amassed five bookings.

Excellent post Budgieplucker. There's actually a couple of bits in there that I don't completely agree with but I love to read a measured considered post and overall I agree with you. Picking up on one of your points, one thing I wonder about is why the first team is so out of synch with the rest of the club which is relatively thriving. The women's team, the academy, the U23s. In many ways the club is going well, but crucially not the first team. Injuries and demotivating seems to be endemic and has been for years.

Well done Andre
Good news and I'm not surprised at all
He's stepped up well this year
We look better with him that when he's out
The red card was ridiculous
The 5 yellows show that he gets stuck in more than he used to
I think he used to go missing in games and only show glimpses of what he can do
He now wants the ball throughout a game
Of course now if the bigger clubs come they will have to pay
I know Evans and Lambert can do no right on here at the moment but this is a positive step
I wouldn't want to lose him
We're all disgruntled with the world right now but I still believe we have had to go backwards in order to go forwards over the last year
Andre has been one green shoot of recovery
We could do with more though

Saxonblue. People have been going on for the last decade how good our kids and our youth program is but where are the results???? How many have actually made it???? perhaps we overrate them and it goes to their heads and they never make the grade. i our youth program is so great why are we struggling so badly?????

If these kids are that good, as we keep being told. It's about time we saw some evidence of it.

Budgiepluckers post is the gold standard in balanced, informed and accurate posts. Well done for reminding me why I am hanging in here and that real news is far more attractive than the hate ridden posts of a small minority..... and well done Dozzell for stepping up this year in a team that at present needs more than ‘a little bit of help'.

Excellent post Budgieplucker. Have the same history as you with the club and have gone through all the best and the worst times. Pleased to see a balanced view and not only a foul knee-jerk comment without thinking. Has made me feel there is still hope for a sensible discussion here.

Budgieplucker......what a refreshing post in amongst the floods of negativity on this site. One of the most sensible and honest posts I have ever read on here

Very good news- the academy is the only possible way out of the current Evans/lambert chasm

What's the good news. He's okay and local but I have never seen him have a significant game yet. He certainly has not influenced any game I have observed. The only good player we have is Norwood and the youngster who's back training next week.
