Blues Boss Lambert Linked With Celtic
Monday, 7th Dec 2020 20:35

Town boss Paul Lambert is being linked with the manager’s job at Celtic with current incumbent Neil Lennon coming under increasing pressure.

Lennon has tonight received a vote of confidence from the Parkhead board with his side sitting second in the Scottish Premiership, 13 points behind Rangers, although with two games in hand.

According to 90 Min the Bhoys are weighing-up whether to make a move for Lambert should they decide to jettison Lennon.

Lambert played for Celtic between 1997 and 2005, during which time he won four league titles, two Scottish Cups, two Scottish League Cups and was Scottish Football Writer's Player of the Year in 2002.

The Scottish champions have also been linked with a number of other managers including former boss Martin O’Neill, Eddie Howe and Gordon Strachan with Lambert currently well down the betting at 20/1 with the bookies.

3rd in the league with 11 injuries and we want him out. Would not blame him for going. Sounds totally fed up with negative attitude in this club. Who is going to do any better under Evans. Time the penny dropped.

I wonder what odds Roy Keane? Could be a slightly less bad choice for Celtic than Lambert.

really cant imagine Celtic have even given him a thought. IMO Lambert wont get us up this season and we will float about in Lge I .when he eventually departs [however] he will be washed up. May get a job mumblejabbering on tv panel .But his days as a ''big'' manager are done .

All of you so called Ipswich supporters on this site want your heads seeing to. 3rd in the league, approx 12 injured players to return, all of the youth teams doing extremely well, young players getting chances in the 1st eleven. I happen to think thats some sort of progress, especially the youngsters being given their opportunity. But more to the point the majority want Lambert out but not one of you names a replacement. WHY?. As to his, Lamberts, style of play the vast majority of teams are playing this way or havnt you noticed.

Whatever my own opinion of Lambert, I think it is fake news for anyone to say that the majority of fans want him out. Nobody knows in reality. All I know is that if Lambert continues in the vein of MM, he will lose support. He needs advice on how to conduct an interview.

would be great to see this plonker at Celtic

another failure would be absolute proof of Bertie's lack of managerial abilities

I would imagine Paul Lambert being very happy if he got away from this club, even more so if he took over at Celtic. Let us all agree though. It is Evans who is responsible for the mess at ITFC. Progress will not change under Evans ownership. Make no mistake about that or an apology. Every manager works with limited support and every manager has to take all the abuse. There again, it is what a manager signs up for when coming to Ipswich. Another wage packet and a heap of stress if it doesn,t work out, ultimately getting the sack. It may be some managers wrongfully persevere with some players who are clearly not good enough. Some managers will argue it is what they have to work with. The clear evidence is the number of managers this club is getting through.

Amazing what one win will do every one is positive all of a sudden. While i agree it's not good practice to keep sacking managers ,questions have to be asked about Lambert's tactics which have been bafferling despite all of our injuries we still have sufficient resources to play two up front . I think we have to be realistic the chances of having everybody fit at the same time is very unlikely . When things are going wrong Lambert always gives some excuse these are quickly running out.

i cant believe some of the stuff i am reading on here, lets clear 2 points up, firstly evans is not the real problem, he gave jewell and keane plenty but they squandered it all, they were poor managerial choices, 1 had been out of management for a few years and the other has an attitude problem, although i remember most on here hailing his appointment, i however thought he was a terrible choice, it was no secret that sunderland players and fans hated him and made it clear we were welcome to him. mcCarthy was a pretty good choice at the time, he just stayed to long and had to go in the end, lambert was not a terrible choice either at the time although there were plenty of better options, but he had plenty of time to turn things round but we went down with a wimper so alarm bells should of been ringing. so evans needs to change who advises him for all this, theres plenty of managers that do well with less money than we have.. secondly as for who else, god, where do i start, clearly some people do not know there football, paul cook, cotterill, monk, pearson,or my choice gus poyet with taricco as sidekick, and thats just the ones on top of my head, there must be plenty others, and forget howe, no chance with that and he wont go to celtic either cos he isnt catholic as far as i know. but I for one wont be sorry to see the back of him, tactically inept with no game management, he is reactive not proactive

Lambert being linked with Celtic is like reading the endless footballers being linked every year to arrive at Ipswich. Complete tosh. Just wish Evans was being linked to go elsewhere !!! Of course Lambert would go if any different offer came in. Then we would have to put up with another Evans manager appointment.
