Pompey Ballot Emails to Arrive This Evening
Tuesday, 8th Dec 2020 20:05

Town have announced that season ticket holders who have been successful in the ballot for Saturday’s game against Portsmouth will be notified by email on Tuesday evening.

With Suffolk in tier two, the Blues are permitted to admit 2,000 supporters for the visit of Pompey, who are one place and one point behind Town in fourth in League One.

Barring any issues, the seat selection process will then be activated at 10am on Wednesday and will conclude at 3pm on Thursday.

Fans who want to receive their tickets by post will have until Wednesday at 2pm to select this option.

Town recently issued guidelines for fans returning to Portman Road.

Not exactly showering themselves in glory here, how many times are they going to move the goalposts?

Give it a rest SouperJim. I'm sure the club aren't on the wind-up and instead are probably working extremely hard behind the scenes to get all of this organised. Does it really matter if emails are received yesterday, today or tomorrow?

Had my email at 9.00pm. It was unsuccessful but I have no complaints about the process.

I think it's probably more to do with the government moving goalposts rather than the club, causing confusion and frustration.

JDAndCoke at a time when the relationship between the club and the fans is at an all time low and the owner has released a statement implying the fans are to blame for us being in the third tier, I would say it matters a great deal that the club do what they say they're going to do for the fans, when they say they are going to do it. Not say one thing, then have to update us twice more in the space of 48 hours to say we can't deliver what we previously promised.

I don't doubt the size of the task or how hard the people involved have worked on it. But the club has known this was coming for some time, so has had ample time to prepare. Other clubs managed to roll this out a week ahead of us don't forget.

Once again it smacks of doing things on the cheap and a lack of leadership. Where have we seen that before under Marcus Evans?

Those of you who are content with the shambles this club has become, keep hitting that downvote button. As for me, I'd like to see the club I love run a little better.

Boycott the game.

I have to agree with SouperJim. Other clubs have been able to organise this a lot easier than we seem to have done. As Marcus Evans has made his money from arranging large scale events, I would have thought we should have been quite slick at it, after all that is an area he should be good at!

It would be really nice if the fans could get behind the team. This a great opportunity to do it in person. We all know that things aren't exactly perfect at Town, but lying in third in the table gives us the opportunity to really push on. If we did get promoted this year, all of the negativity will disappear.

Don't understand the negative comments from a ballot that is fair and transparent. Name the other clubs that are doing things better and provide your evidence to the club... oh wait you don't have any and just want to moan about everything

Easy for BB to say boycott the game because BB wouldn't be going anyway, isn't that the case BB ?The delay has been minimal. Not all clubs offer seat selection, not all clubs had ballots and not all clubs had an excess of demand.

SeasonTKT_Cobbold a quick look on twitter will tell you I'm not the only one who thinks Town have done a less than stellar job here, compare to similar anecdotal feedback from other clubs.

The fact remains, ticketing is just the latest area of the club which Marcus Evans has outsourced to a third party (seatgeek) and it's us paying customers (as Evans has made it very clear that is how he views us) who bear the brunt of the inevitable reduction in quality of the service.

I will be at Portman Road on Saturday fully behind the team. But I remain highly critical of how the club is being run as every area of the club has been in consistent decline since Evans took over. As it has been said, many of you will just put up with it like good little consumers so long as a ball is being kicked at Portman Road. But I have come to terms with the fact that you can back the team while being unhappy with how the club is being mismanaged.

God we have a lot of fans who look for any and every opportunity for a moan.

@SouoerJim - I acknowledge what you say about many aspects of the club but ticketing is not something in my opinion that has declined. Before Evans arrived the ticket office was a bit of a shambles because the system was not up to it. As for Twitter I think we all know that this medium is generally the domain of people who wish to be critical. I'm sure that not everyone will ever be totally happy but let's direct our criticism at what really is wrong and as you say, support the team at the same time.

Bert thanks for the balanced response, that is fair comment and I agree that the club-run ticket office did improve under Evans. But now ticketing is run by a third party I believe and already we have seen issues with this (convoluted process, fans being unable to get it to work etc). It remains to be seen whether these things will get ironed out in time.
