Durkin to Ref Derby
Durkin to Ref Derby

Premiership referee Paul Durkin is the man in control of Sunday's East Anglian derby between Town and Norwich City. His appointment is not likely to inspire confidence amongst Town supporters due to an incident in a previous derby.

Back in March 1995 Durkin officiated in the Norwich-Town game at Carrow Road which the Blues lost 3-0 after John Wark had been controversially sent off for a seemingly innocuous foul on Darren Eadie inside the centre circle.

Wark said of the incident in Phil's book: "I thought we were quite comfortable until he sent me off. I can remember it being on Sky and Andy Gray said he couldn't believe the decision, it was only my first tackle and it was probably quite late but I wasn't the last man.

"Darren Eadie even said to me afterwards he thought it was maybe a booking at the most. I think the referee did it because he was on Sky."

Durkin subsequently refused to review the decision.

Sunday's linesmen are Martin Yerby and Simon Gagen.
