Fleetwood and Wigan Linked With Donacien
Thursday, 21st Jan 2021 10:51

Fleetwood Town and Wigan Athletic are reported to be among the clubs eyeing a move for Blues right-back Janoi Donacien.

The 27-year-old was the subject of a rebuffed nominal bid understood to be in the region of £50,000 last week with the St Lucia-born defender’s former club Accrington Stanley also keen on taking him on loan for a second time.

Now, according to the EADT, Fleetwood and Wigan are keen on loan moves for Donacien, who seems certain to leave Portman Road during January as the Blues look to cut their squad of senior players to the 22 stipulated by the salary cap.

Donacien’s Town contract is up at the end of the season but with the Blues having an option for a further campaign.

£50,000? That's ridiculous.
If you want the lad offer 200K.
There's a number of talented lads in league one out of contract in the summer.
If we do go up should look at them.

Would he have been any worse at RB than Chambers? Seemed to do ok there last season on loan at Accrington.

It would be excellent for him to actually be in with the chance on getting playing time ; when that's your way of life how frustrating lack of opportunity must be !

I feel really sorry for Donacian . What on earth has he done to upset Lambert ?
I do wonder if it will come back to bite us I the bum if we let the only fit bespoke RB leave this Club. KVY is clearly not going to be fit any time soon this season. With Chambers as our only fit RB, wed be one injury away from catastrophe....

Ooh £50k must be tempting. Thats alot of money for ITFC.

Sorry ArnieM down voted you in error. Chambers won,t get injured as he never tackles or heads the ball when near an opponent. KVY doesn't look like playing any time soon so yes we could be in a tricky situation if No4 did get injured although Woolfy or Edward's could play there. Square pegs l know!

Donacien has done ok imho whenever he's had the opportunity. No worse than the rest.

Another poor piece of business from our club. For the style of play we're looking to implement, he does not fit the mould. Saying that neither do Chambo or Ward. Kenlock also looks like he's won a competition, how he is a pro footballer I do not know.

Can't wait to see KVY back fit and I'd like to see Nydam playing LB when he's back as he can offer us so much more offensively than Ward or Kenlock

So we rebuff £50,000 and instead we send him out on loan. And then he will go for free in the summer unless we use the option which we won't.

Sounds like ME is about to loose £50,000.

Donasien will definitely do well at another club as would a lot of players in our squad. You don't need to go to specsavers to see Lambert just dosent get the best from his players. Good managers can improve players who have been out of form or low in confidence i see no signs of this at Portman road.

Like others I thought he was ok but who knows what goes on behind the scenes.

For him personally he should go as he will never get a game here under Lambert
However we currently have a 35yo CB playing in that position who is also out of contract at the end of the year who surely we will NOT be offering another contract to.
Therefore we need a RB as cover for the rarely fit KVY and Donacien is more than capable, in fact has not made any mistakes when called upon, unlike the guy who is currently playing.
Obviously more to making the starting XI than being a the best available in that position

Clearly not going to play him & contract up in the summer. So sell him now.
Agree Chambers stated self distancing long before Covid. His inability to defend are covered up when we are attacking

Take the £50.000. A loan is ridiculous if he is out of contract in the summer and will go anyway. Evans you muppet.

cant we chuck most of the crap and manager in as a freebe with him

He probably wouldn't leave for less wages unless we settled his contract which would probably cost more than the £50k, so loaning him out might be more cost effective.

i believe he does make errors like against pompey in the cup just when we were getting back into the game, but then guess all the defenders and goalkeeper have made calamity mistakes

Take the money, save the salary, he will never be a Championship player

Dockerblue. No worries.... I'd forgotten that Edwards has played their before. An option in a crisis 8 know but I'm sure it would confirm Edwards departure from the club, lol

Nothing personal, but he's 27, at his peak, and not getting in an average 3rd tier team. A fiver and everyone's a winner.

Exactly billy, He's never looked good enough when playing for us.
Don't trust him on the ball either.
Much rather Chambers at RB than him.
