Blue Action Newspaper Banner Hits Out at Evans and Lambert
Saturday, 23rd Jan 2021 23:50

Town independent supporters group Blue Action has attached a newspaper-style poster to the Portman Road gates expressing their frustrations with the way the club is being run.

The banner, in the style of a newspaper, ‘The Fail’, takes aim at owner Marcus Evans for his running of the club over the last 13 years and reiterating their call for the exit of manager Paul Lambert.

Blue Action accuse Evans of remaining “hopelessly out of touch” after “13 years of neglect and decline”.

The poster also makes reference to TWTD’s Phil Ham, whose ban from club manager and player press conferences has now been ongoing for almost three months.

This isn’t the first time Blue Action have draped their thoughts on the Portman Road perimeter.

In December, they hung a banner at the ground urging Evans to take action: “Tick-tock Marcus, the future of the club is at stake”, having previously hung another on the gates at Playford Road which called for Lambert’s departure: “Lambo - Cheers for the beers but it’s time at the bar”.

They had planned a demonstration at the Swindon game a fortnight ago but postponed it due to the latest lockdown.

Early on in his time at Town, Lambert invited members of Blue Action along with other groups to the training ground to talk about improving the atmosphere at home matches.

Blue Action had been formed at the start of the 2018/19 season with that in mind via banners, stickers and the introduction of new songs and more recently have produced a fanzine.

Fans widely want a change of manager - 83.2 per cent in a TWTD poll - with the Blues’ form having dropped away alarmingly since winning five of their first six matches and topping the table, much as they did last season before dropping away and finishing 11th on points per game.

Today’s 1-0 loss to Peterborough was their fifth defeat at home in six games, while Accrington are the only side they have beaten while in the top 10 this season.

Relations between Lambert and the local media have also become strained with Ham banned from press conferences after the XI for the Lincoln City match in October was posted by a forum user on the moring of the game, while other members of the media were accused of stoking and feeding negativity after December’s 0-0 draw at Oxford.

Northstandveteran we had two other buyers at the start along with evans and he's had two other offers since owning the club so there are buyers out there in the past who have been interested but until someone puts something up for sale you won't know. You don't go round to someone's house and offer them a bid on a house they're not advertising for sale so you?
Plenty of smaller clubs with lower gates and support do so much better financially as well as playing wise look at Brentford, Watford, Bournemouth, Swansea even Norwich yet we struggle in every area of the club to these guys why? Poor management at every level of the club but it starts at the top.
Let's stop being grateful as fans because evans has us by the b@lls, because there may not be a buyer let's not celebrate or be happy we're not bury we'll never be a bury there was never any coming back as they only get 4000 gates at the best of times, instead of thinking we may be bury we could be Brentford Norwich Bournemouth.

Beattie's, I think the club is basically permanently up for sale. You are right there have been potential buyers but as soon as they see the state of the finances they run a mile.

I think you may have misunderstood my post B.B.P.

Evans has totally ruined this club.

I'd rather Mike Ashley owned it, Hell I'd rather Laura Ashley!

In no way was I being a grateful serf.

My post was of genuine concern that the club could fold.

A business heavily in debt that continues to lose millions a year.

Regardless of who owns it.

At some point someone is going to want their money back.

As carberry posted, Evans has said he will listen to offers some time ago but who would want to buy the club?

If you went on Dragon's Den with a business plan for I.T.F.C you'd be ripped to pieces.

Evans has put the club in this perilous position and I genuinely see no way out of it.

At least some fans have the balls to stand up to this abysmal owner. The fact that some happy clapper 'fans' still regard Evans as our saviour and say ''where would we be without him?'' etc. just goes to show the delusion within parts of the fanbase. Those fake fans are as much a part of the problem as Evans and Lambert. #EvansOut #LamberOut #FakeFansOut

Northstandveteran but it is HIS debt not the clubs it's attached to the club however is his company's debt. Quite rightly he'll want as much as possible back however he's had made his money by being successful in his decision making which include cutting your losses when something isn't working for you. Our name and tradition and fan base is what makes us an appealing proposition for the right investor however going into league two WILL ruin that. Before he came we were out of administration with a 30 million debt and losing approx 2.7 million a season with a very good team and passionate manager challenging for the playoffs which would possibly explain how the losses were not anywhere near what they are now however he has managed to make the debt an extra 70 and that's with 50 million recouped in player transfers in that time how can we go from losing only 2.7 million to supposedly 10 a season? It's not on the team or an ageing ground? It makes no sense. Even the team we had then under magilton with Miller, Walters etc would've been on way more money than the team we've had past few years. The owner has no affinity with the club, wanted to buy the mirror newspaper then couldn't so bought us, chelsea fan what possible reason is there for him not to cut his losses and sell up 🤷‍♂️

Also Northstandveteran he has to publicly put it up for sale. You don't pop round someone's asking to buy their house not knowing if it's for sale you go to an estate agent. He's had two offers previously but didn't want to sell that was in an interview by him in 2019 when in the championship.

I wonder how many posters have experience owning or running a multi million pound business? We are ALL entitled to an opinion and as fans we are very emotionally involved - but let's get real...... no self respecting business man is going to sell up and lose £50million never mind £100m. No successful business man wants to give up on something that's seen as a failure - and there is no way fans are going to force that to happen. If anything the nature of a self made multi millionaire (who can afford to sell, give it away, or just park it to one side) means that all these bad vibes will just make him more determined to not sell at a huge loss. Remember any asset is only sold at a loss when the final sale goes through - in the meantime ME has a chance of getting his money back or even a profit as long as he owns it. Unlikely? YES. May it take another 10 years? YES. But as long as he owns the club that ‘financial loss' is an investment that still has a chance, albeit slim, of being returned to ME.

It's like a roulette ball rattling around the roulette wheel for years and years, once it stops rolling at that point and only then do you have a loss or profit or your stake money back.

I was not an anti Lambert fan but there is no way we can blame ME for the last season and a half performance on the pitch - ME doesn't play on the pitch AND I think everyone agrees that the squad that is assembled and our wage bill means we should be top two to get out of this league BUT SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE PLAYER'S MENTALITY AND COMMITMENT (that is more likely to not be ME's fault than actually be his fault!). Players are putting a shift in for sure but busting a gut? Practically crawling off the pitch as they don't have another ounce of effort to give? I don't think so........

Not blaming him individually for our problems but Emyr Huws should be the best player in this division and controlling games, driving us forward - why is that not the case?

Finally, I don't think any protest or a lot of ITFC fans on social media (not all) do anything to help OUR PLAYERS ON THE PITCH where it matters. It doesn't help any players especially the younger ones or make us more attractive to a player looking to join us if he had other options.

Something needs to change and soon.... it's not going to be the owner, and nor should it be today, so unfortunately it looks like if the next four games don't bring 8 points (or 6 points with four excellent attacking performances) then a new manager is required.

NOW PLEASE TELL ME REALISTICALLY WHICH MANAGER WHO THE MAJORITY OF FANS WOULD BE HAPPY WITH AND WE WOULD EXPECT TO GET THIS SQUAD PROMOTED THIS YEAR WOULD ACTUALLY WANT TO COME TO PR?

Personally I would give a large sum of money to give the next pre match team talk and tell the players what us fans have been through, want to see and expect from the 90 mins as a bare minimum. If I don't look in a players eyes and see that desire to win the game, to risk an injury, to want to win 40/60 tackles and to show for the ball then I wouldn't care what the name was on the back of the shirt it would be a case of ‘take your boots off son, you're not playing today'.

Morning BBP.

Just had a lovely nap.

I think we're basically singing from the same hymn sheet along with 90% of the posters on here.

Let's hope you're right and we have a change of owner soon.

Before we do hit the 4th division.

I'm not a gambling man but if someone asked me to put money on us going up or going down I know where my money would be going.

Hence my concern ( regardless of Evans ) that I mentioned in my original post that the club ' could ' be at genuine risk of being wound up.

Stay safe.
