Jackson Apologises For Dismissal
Tuesday, 26th Jan 2021 23:36

Striker Kayden Jackson has apologised for his 10th-minute red card in Town’s 1-0 home loss to Sunderland.

In a tweet, the 26-year-old, who caught Black Cats defender Bailey Wright with a high boot, said: "I take full accountability for what happened tonight, I've cost the boys the three points in what was a massive game and for that I apologise.

"There was no malice intended on my behalf but I'm aware it's nowhere near good enough and I'll do my utmost to put it right asap.”

Jackson will now now be suspended for three games, Saturday’s trip to Crewe, the home game with Blackpool and the visit to Peterborough.

He's lucky the lad he went in on didn't break a leg. You are a professional footballer Kayden, never do this again no matter who you play for.

You could see his eyes were on the ball and there was no malice intended, but it was a poorly timed challenge and an obvious red card. Not only was it reckless to the opposing player's welfare it was reckless to put his teammates at such a disadvantage after only 9 minutes, which he is indeed responsible for.

And don't worry Jackson, even with you on the pitch we wouldn't have got 3 points,

So in the last 12 months Jackson has one more goal than red cards.

This game can be put down to Kayden's error and well done for apologising K but next game its back to you Lambert. If this game doesn't prove we can play 2 up top when needed and you keep playing so defensive with one up top then maybe it is time for you to go Lambert.
Prove fans wrong and go for it in games that we must win. Nothing to lose this season apart from a manager

HOW old is he ? How much football has he played professionally ? Where did he come from ,and who judged him what ITFC needed ?
How has he applied himself here , how has he refined and improved ?
There are so many questions in need of answers ; but that unfortunately can be applied on a wider scale .
The parameters for changing and exchanging player assets are restricted ,and even more so following C19 etc , but if players are ‘ stuck ‘ with us then they are the ones who need to commit to improvement !
May be this will be a significant chapter leading to better things for and from KJ : let's hope so .

That's a pretty poor effort of an apology I'm afraid. I also struggle to see how as a professional footballer you can be that far over the ball accidentally? That's as bad a tackle as I've seen for quite some time and for me, it poses questions as to what lies behind it?

I feel sorry for him. A nasty challenge, but this is a player who's been out of the team, out of position, and desperately trying to impress. Lambert clearly hates him and I'll be amazed if he now doesn't try to sell the guy.

At least he has apologised but we saw this kind of rash tackling when Downes returned from injury recently too. Rushing round like a headless chicken. They arent youths now and should be much more disciplined in their play.

Can't see how he could have got it that wrong. So many on Twitter saying it wasn't malicious and well done for holding your hands up etc. Didnt have any choice did he?? It was an appalling tackle but whether or not it cost us the game is debst@ble the way we've been playing. Good to publicly
apologise. If Norwood is still unfit on Saturday, only one central striker.available.

good on him for apologising. a stupid decision made a material effect on the result.

how many times has lambert made stupid decisions that lost us the game? how many times has lambert apologised to the team?

It was a bad tackle, a definite red.... but certainly not malicious. Its a contact sport and until some eventually get their way and make it a non contact sport...... there are going to be misjudged tackles of this nature. Jees....if you saw the stuff that went on in past decades.....on/off camera.

Ive never been particularly taken with Jackson. His best attribute is pace and he doesnt use it to his advantage. Norwood(if he is ever fit....groan) has much more of a goal threat. Having said that, I feel sorry for him in the sense that he has constantly been played out of position or occasionally up front on his own. His best games have been when playing in a two up front. The guy must be incredibly frustrated.

Hes apologised.......and our season hasnt been defined by his sending off......that is Lamberts fault.

No apology will make up for him standing there smiling about it,

Tackles like that in real time look 50-50, and Jackson was taken out (two footed, as was Downes later in the half). Playing and watching at full pace I doubt Jackson had time to think "I'll do this guy", he was misjudged and actually probably protecting himself. But it was a nasty one, hands up it's a red card.
What isn't okay is your manager hanging you out to dry before you've had a chance to apologise.

Ripped into Kayden straight after the game last night as was feeling sore. I also watched the game on Sky and it looked a horrible challenge on the replay. However, at least he's owned it and apologised. There's lots of players that have done far worse and not apologised. Think Roy Keane and Kevin Musprat. So fair play Kayden. Sorry for calling you Kaydumb 'No Action' Jackson in the heat of the post-match moment. It's just so frustrating being a Town fan during these times it's hard to keep a lid on the anger sometimes.

I think desperation is leading to a lack of discipline throughout the team. It just shows the quality just isn't there. This is a management issue. Should never put a Town shirt on again.

Very poor effort from Mr Jackson. Regret to say that the club is blessed with a whole group of midfield and attacking players who do not know how to tackle in a hard but fair manner.
Just look at the number of cards some of them pick up. No need to name names, we all know who they are. This results in sending offs and suspensions and costs us dear. Bring in somebody like Mat Holland to teach them how to tackle properly, and go a season without a single card!.

I think there's a good player in there, he's the kind of person that will leave and flourish somewhere else, but isn't that the role of the management team to identify and work on this?

Some people can, and do make excuses for everything.
This was just another typical example.

It's certainly common with far too many associated with our Football Club - ever thought that therein lies the reason we are what we are, and where we are .... ???

Football is a game of very fine margins - a fraction of a second earlier or later and this would have been less dangerous ... all players make mistakes ... what bothered me more was his reaction of not even knowing what he had done ... or trying to pretend he hadn't.

Also - this game proves we can play with 2 up front and look secure at the back and making chances .... we were better at 4-4-1 than we have been for ages at whatever it is with 1 up. 4-4-2 or 3-5-2 will both work if the players put in the effort they did especially in the second half.

I am NOT saying that we look like promotion probables but it IS possible if the showings in our last two matches can be replicated ... new signings and those returning from injury have looked good ..

FINE MARGINS --- please lambert - stick with the 10 that you had on at half time and add a second striker to make up the numbers ... if we have one fit that is ....
