Parrott: I'm Happy to Be Here and I Can't Wait to Get Going
Monday, 1st Feb 2021 15:10

New loan signing Troy Parrott says he’s really happy to have joined the Blues on loan for the rest of the season and is looking forward to the challenge.

Parrott, 18, was recalled from his spell at Millwall, apparently as Spurs wanted the Irish international to play as a central striker rather than wide, and joined up with Town this morning.

"I'm really happy to be here," Parrott told iFollow Ipswich. "There are some good players here and I'm looking forward to the second half of the season.

"It was great to get out for my first training session this morning and the lads gave me a really nice welcome.

"I love a challenge and I want to be part of something. I'm excited to get going and I want to score some goals for this club.

"I will work hard for the team and I'm ready to play. I played last weekend so I'm feeling good in terms of match sharpness and I can't wait to get started.”

The Dubliner says his conversations with manager Paul Lambert and general manager of football operations Lee O’Neill went well as they discussed the move.

“Really well actually,” he reflected. “I spoke to them before I came and I just got the right feeling off the two of them and that’s why I’m here now.”

Parrott made 10 starts and four sub appearances while with Millwall without scoring having been hampered by one or two knocks in the early stages.

“I started with a couple of injuries, so for the first couple of months I was stop-start really,” he said. “But once it got going, I enjoyed everything about it, good lads there, the manager and the coaching staff did a lot for me.

“All around, I see it as not having gone as we planned at the start but I learned a lot of stuff there and hopefully I can take that with me.”

He added: “I’m really happy to be here, it’s a big club so I can’t wait to get going.”

They made a great first impression on us supporters too! Let's hope they deliver for you Mr Parrot and you can do the same for us. Welcome and sincerely hope it is a successful loan for all parties.

Best of luck young man !
Play him up front with Norwood, Harrop ahead of Downes in central midfield with Edwards and Thomas out wide..... That's my plan but PL would never do it.
Good luck to anyone that can pick a decent back 4 to play behind them !

It will certainly be a challenge, asking an 18 year old to play one-up-front. I hope he does well.

Welcome Troy.
Cant understand this loan at all. No goals in 11 appearances for Millwall. Why are developing a Tottenham youngster when we have our own to develop. Real kick in the teeth for our young forwards.

Doesn't matter about the age if he's good enough results will tell. Good luck young man, do well and score goals and PL will be a happy man. If you don't score it will be down to him rather than you. Nice to have you here and all we can do is hope.

Well I'm confused. We sign an 18 year old who his club want him to play central striker, but we only play one up top. Does that mean he will play up front on his own? Can he do at 18 what more experienced players have failed to do this season? Tottenham will want him to play games and in his preferred position. What does this mean for Norwood and Drinan? We know Lambert doesn't like going positive in attack at the expense of not having possession in midfield and across the back and we must have a slow build up. I'd love to know exactly what O'Neil and Lambert said to the player and Tottenham when this deal was being tabled. Surely they didn't say you will be in a 2 up top striking partnership, because we have been told we are not very good at that. At the moment I can't see what Luke Thomas brings to the side over Dobra. Maybe I'm just overthinking things. Good luck trying to fit into the Ipswich style of play anyway Troy and working under Lambert.

There's a circus in the Town. It's Lambert and he's got us down. And Lee O'Neill, what exactly do you do?
Ipswich Town are going nowhere.

We seem to have quite a few centre-forwards already

Lets hope his lack of goals is because he's been spending his time getting chalk dust on his boots.

A Spurs supporting colleague said this guy has a promising future.

A warm welcome, Troy. You've joined a great club with an illustrious history, currently struggling to get back to where we all want us to be. Work hard, be committed to our cause whilst here and you'll get our full support. Don't be put off by all the negative soul-searching etc - bring us fresh energy and determination. Oh, and score us loads of goals!

(PS - need to watch your diet. Suggest loads of Pollyfilla😀)

Give it a couple of weeks Troy and that positive attitude will soon change.

Troy Parrott, 18 years old and a promising youngster so we bring him in on loan. Elkan Baggott, 18 years old and one of our own......can't get a start?🤔

This is going to confuse the rest of the team , they will have to pass forwards now , not quite sure they know how
