Matheson: I Got a Call at Half-Four Monday, 1st Feb 2021 21:21
New loan signing Luke Matheson has revealed that he only found out about his loan move to the Blues from his parent club Wolves at half past four this afternoon.
The deal having been agreed, the former Rochdale youngster is driving to Suffolk this evening.
"I was doing some extra work in the gym at about half-four and I got a call from the Wolves loans manager who said I needed to get over to the first-team building straight away," the 18-year-old told the club site.
"Within half an hour I was on the phone to [manager] Paul [Lambert] and it felt like the right opportunity for me.
"I'm really happy to be joining this club. I can't wait to get started because this feels like a really good move for me.
"It was a no brainer before I got on the phone, but speaking to the manager made me think 'yes, I want to do this’.
"I'm really looking forward to this and I want to help the team. Playing first-team football will be brilliant and I'm excited to be part of the first-team environment.
"Paul really liked my enthusiasm and I will work really hard for this team. I run a lot and I'll give it my all for the club."
Meanwhile, it's reported the Blues turned interest from several clubs for Jon Nolan, despite the player being said to be keen on a move.
According to Football Insider, Rotherham United, Wigan Athletic and Doncaster Rovers were keen in addition to Peterborough, who were linked earlier this evening.

Good lad. That message will endear you to the fans. Hope your youthful exuberance can rub off on the rest of the team.....but particularly the chuffin manager
Good luck Luke, Kvy apart, we haven't had a decent right back for twenty years. Lambert has a tricky team selection on Saturday, will be a few unhappy players not even make the bench.
Curious as to where he is going to play, can't believe wolves are going to let him come here to sit on the bench(like Norris deal where he had to play certain amount of games ) and there's definitely not a cat in hells chance of chambers being dropped, so looking forward to seeing how this pans out. Never heard of him or seen him play but I'd like to see him in the team Saturday
Very odd goings on; don't expect we shall get anywhere near the kernel of the machinations ,but it seems as plain as a pikestaff we ought to have had our thoughts sorted out well in advance ! As to Nolan J , he doesn't seem to out his heart and soul into anything , never particularly looks a–ed to move with vim and vigour ,looks a wasted and wasting talent and one who sadly we'd be well trid of ( unless PL can turn him on ?) . COYB
Not surprised Nolan is keen for a move. At present many other places would be much more attractive given the tactics and seeming inadequacy of our manager to realise that we must score goals. Hopefully the penny will drop for Lambert this Saturday and we will see two up top and the skipper on the bench but not holding my breath ........
I would not be surprised to see Chambers dropped to the bench for Saturday and for Downes to be given the armband. He may be Club Captain but I believe his appearances will diminish as the season progresses. Woolfenden and McGuinness at Centre half and Kenlock and Matheson as fullbacks. Come next season, Woolfenden and Baggott a likely partnership with Chambers on the coaching team
Welcome to ITFC Luke We do like to leave it until the last moment before getting something we desperately need, however, will definitely see a return to CB for the skipper As mentioned all of these loan signings have clauses in them which stipulates that they have to play a certain amount of games. May even see a change in formation with 3 CBs in a 5-4-1 (advertised as a 3-4-3). Glad we have signed a genuine RB but worried what impact it will have for the rest of the team and how we are going to shoe horn players in !!!
Well he looks about 10 years old and will have as much physical presence as a wet tissue.....what a complete joke this club has become.....you have just got to laugh.....
Our squad is now considerably strengthened with these signings which is vital having seen whats coming up-----can we all try and be POSITIVE------PLEASE!!
