Blue Action Stage Playford Road Demonstration
Monday, 15th Feb 2021 14:24

Independent supporters group Blue Action let off flares as part of a demonstration during training at Playford Road this morning, again calling for the sacking of manager Paul Lambert.

Blue Action have previously draped banners from the gates at the training ground and perimeter fencing at Portman Road, where they also recently attached a newspaper-style poster to the gates.

This demonstration during this morning’s training session involved a flag, a banner and the letting off of smoke bombs and flares from outside the perimeter fence, as well as chants of ‘We want Lambert out’ with a video subsequently posted on social media along with the message 'Save our season, sack Paul Lambert'.

On the video, assistant manager Stuart Taylor can be heard remonstrating with the protestors as smoke drifts across the field.

Blue Action was formed at the start of the 2018/19 season in order to try to improve the atmosphere at home games via banners, stickers and the introduction of new songs, and more recently have produced a fanzine.

Early on in manager Lambert’s tenure they were invited to the training ground to talk about the atmosphere at Portman Road as the incoming boss sought to improve relations between the club and its fans.

But more recently, with the Blues again having drifted into mid-table in League One, they have spoken out about the club’s situation and called for the departure of Lambert on a banner hung on the gates at Playford Road.

They subsequently draped another banner on the perimeter fence at Portman Road reading “Tick-tock Marcus, the future of the club is at stake”.

A planned protest ahead of the Swindon game in January was postponed due to the lockdown.

Former srtriker Darren Bent commented on the latest protest on Twitter.

People will always be divided about things like this, in my opinion things like this need to happen! As bad as it is right now. Evans and the management need to know our frustrations. I say well done Blue Action and I hope more continue until Lambert has gone and Evans has put the club up for sale!

The more publicity we get, the better! First of all, Lambert needs to go to save our season. Then we MUST get new ownership. ME has caused this club to rot and it can't continue!

@EdSheeran come on dowwwn...

At least Blue Action are doing something , many people on this board are quite content on watching Lambert come up with more excuses. With the biggest squad in the division we should be in the top 2 let alone top 6 play off positions, but no we fail to struggle to beat even the worst teams in this division.

Fair play to blue army on this one. This lambert situation is pishing me off big time now and if I lived local I would have joined them. Three wins in every 10 games is the embarrassment, not the fans who are actually trying to do something. Lamberts a fraud and a horrid little weasel with the ‘mother' of all chips on his shoulder and needs removing pronto.

That there are so called 'fans' critical of Blue Action who are showing passion and fight and demanding better is unbelievable. How far would we have to fall for these so called fans to drop their ambivalence and apathy and think, yep, enoughs enough?!

Why criticise BA when they clearly speak for the majority of fans (it would seem). A lot of us moan on here, but they actually do something. Evans is to blame - why can't he see what the fans want and do something before this season is lost again. When the local newspaper calls for Lamberts head, it says everything that needs to be said.

A sad sight for all real Ipswich fans and I have been one of them for the past 60 years.

Whilst I agree that the Manager should have been given the ''golden'' boot a long time ago and would have been at most Clubs I'm not sure that the vast majority of true blues would condone this sort of behaviour.

What next then? Are they going to storm Portman Road?

To be honest no time at all for anyone critical of any action taken to bring attention to the destruction of our club.
They may as well go and support the budgies or perhaps they already do

WELL DONE BLUE ACTION KEEP IT GOING

I'm not sure how any true blue doesn't support this 'behaviour.' As I say, how bad would it have to get? Were you a good Roman if you stood and watched and clapped Nero as Rome burned? Was that good support?

Well done Blue Action for keeping the pressure on even if the method is not as subtle as some would like. It is a pity however that the opinions of all supporters are no longer respected on this site. We all have shades of opinion but for some it is either you are against me or with me. If you are a life long supporter and emotionally attached to the club nothing hurts more than seeing our team in this league and struggling but to criticise those who dislike the action today says more about those who criticise. What happened to free speech?

Blue Blood - if it's pathetic and a waste of time then why has it got the attention of Darren Bent and no doubt pricked the ears of other ex-players?...all the best to them.

I agree with you I was so lucky to see the Robson years too.
If McCarthy was still here we would be in the Championship and yet again toxic fans got him out.
Don't get me wrong I was not a big fan of Micks football but given some money I think he would have push Town in the right direction.

Evans said he learned from the pressure of fans to sack Mick. So there is no way will he sack Lambert.

The place is toxic and I feel lockdown has saved us from watching football in an environment of hate and bad language which will stay with the club until Lambert has gone.

Whoever takes over from Lambert will suffer the same treatment if they do not turn Town in to Premiership challengers which will never happen with the amount of money ploughed into the Premiership

Bluearmy81. No1 is saying action doesnt need to be taken. But apart from the fact that they were breaking lockdown rules, what really is the point of 4 people protesting. Have no effect whatsoever.

I'll probably get slaughtered but who cares. As a fan and season ticket holder who has followed the Town since the early 70's I find this pathetic and embarrassing. I appreciate things are pretty crap at the moment but how do they really think this will help? and what a negative effect it has on the players especially the young loan players here at the moment. This type of behavior will solve nothing. Why aren't these people at work or are they there more likely because the schools are closed,

I understand that not everyone agrees with these actions but given the state that the club is in and the reluctance for change from Evans and Lambert something needs to change and our voices heard. If we weren't languishing down in 12th position in League One with a manager and owner that doesn't seem bothered then these actions wouldn't need to happen. Well done Blue Action for for expressing what the vast majority of Ipswich fans want.

Good on them they have my support and ive been an itfc supporter for 45 plus years, and for those who are saying its pathetic ...really? i call it having passion and caring about your club and with the current climate they have found a way to vent their frustration at the demise of ITFC, i guess some people would still be clapping them off on a saturday after another defeat! the only PATHETIC thing is an OWNER and fans saying be careful what you wish for!
